Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Aye we sit 4th with a squad of young talent worth near 100 million
Others coming through the under 21s -in fact 17 year olds paying up three years
Nightmare times at safc !
Think I will bail out after 60 plus years of supporting the heroes 🤣
Never had it so bad
Doesn’t matter what the squad is worth if we’re not successful does it?

I never said he is taking money out of the club (yet)…the club is making a loss and he has taken out a loan facility secured against the stadium to cover it, rather than converting debt to equity (which he is allowed to do)
I thought you said the money wouldn't be reinvested? If the owner isn't taking money out then is it not all being reinvested.

Not sure what the club are supposed to do if the player is not willing to extend their contract? The club is a business at the end of the day and players are commodities. Why let him leave as a free agent? The club have invested in the lad and now will get a return on their investment. Makes perfect sense
And we don’t care about success on the field and that return will help us succeed?

It’s a good deal for the club
We are at a stage of risking 1 to 3 million on youngsters hopefully making it for a profit down the line. Brighton are a t a stage of risking 10 million on a young player making it and making them a profit down the line in the same way when they sell players for big sums to Chelsea like they have

By getting some desperately needed cash? There's been talk of getting loans etc. So it seems to me they thought it may as well go through now. Our owners don't seem to want to put more of their own money it at the moment.
We've lost about £17M over the past 2 sets of accounts! Hardly any team makes money in the Championship.

Maybe.
Just don’t understand why he’s so desperate to leave?
No me either right now. Can understand that a big signing on fee is life changing, but I’d imagine he could quite easily get a four year deal from us which would be equally as life changing.
Or we’re not wanting to offer him anything decent.
