Good week

Dacus, Genius, Paws, Ankles and Destroyer jump out

I had a listen to the new Benefits albums not really expecting to like it, but thought it was decent. Saul Adamczewski and Marley Mackey's album The Coward is worth hearing too.
It's pretty good, just not sure on longevity/replay value. I tried the debut but it just wasn't for me, that overly abrasive shouty on the nose political genre is crap imo. I really like Kingsley though and I'm happy to see him have a bit of success. The Chapman Family hold a place very close to my heart.

Really enjoyed the Dutch Interior new one. I sorta wish they'd kept a bit more of the vocal variety from the last but it's still good.

Big fan of the Barry Hyde new one about coal mining in the north east, it made me quite emotionally actually. If you've heard his debut or Rant by the Futureheads it's a bit of a mix of the two. Would recommend to anyone on here.

The new Youth Lagoon is the first to catch my attention in a while. Good.

Bdrmm - they've really gone off the boil. Dud. Don't mind the new change of direction in terms of style just don't think there's enough good songs on there.

Cheekface - fun punk pop but always struggle with how they balance serious and piss take. They're doing a joint tour with Martha in the summer so worth going to that regardless.

Divorce - never heard of them but it's a decent debut. Couple of really good tracks on there. Bit too much copy and paste indie. Filled a gap early in the year.

Antony Szmierek - a regen of Real Lies. To the point where I've had to double check it wasn't just the singer on a solo project. Not for me but I do like the song about the new Stockport pyramid curry house (and the owner turned up at his album launch event which is funny).

There's a track 6music are playing by Perfume Genius that's becoming a bit of an ear worm for me, knowing nothing else of them I'm gonna be checking them out on Friday.

Been looking forward to this for a while. The singles have been great from the album. Hoping he tours it too. He’s excellent live.

Butler Blake and grant I’ll be getting too, the first song off that was lovely.
Would love to see them live too. They’ve been doing some tfc and suede covers in their gigs to pad them out.

playing Gateshead Sage June 14th

Any love for the new Horrors’ album? Took a couple of listens but been really enjoying it.
Just heard it once but will go back to it. Used to really like them, but I wasn't really up for their return after some stinking stuff they released between albums. Been announced today that they play in North Shields on 23rd May.
Sacred Paws have released another very good album. Every song is enjoyable. Should make for a good gig when they visit the north east in May.

Been to see BC,NR tonight. Georgia is wonderful, what a voice, and the there are moments of brilliance. But it’s ultimately very flat. That album with Isaac was insanely good but this is a bit meh
All the new stuff sounds a bit awkward to me. I'd hoped Isaac would get well enough to return but it's complete silence from him as far as I'm aware.
