Look North. Again.

Thought exactly the same, wondering how they will give it a mention tomorrow. Tried to get the control to switch it off. Not sure how the Gateshead Angel is part of Newcastle but they seem to think so, muppets.
Please!!!....Everyone stop watching it! I've Always said they have an inferior complex about Wearside it goes back centuries, look up the history, Sunderland are the noisy neighbours & 1973 will never be outdone!
Leeds Utd at the time were the equivalent of Real Madrid....ftm

I’ve always said this smacks of a total lack of self confidence having to put some place down in order to make them feel good 🤷‍♀️

The way they were spinning things leading up to the final and some of the comments afterwards you'd think they have surpassed extent of that achievement in 73. I know technically they were 'underdogs' but the way it's been spoken about and the context it's used it's like they've pulled off some miracle achievement - not a team thats 6th (and over the last few seasons have outspent their opponents) or whatever beating a team thats 1st in a one off game. I swear we were given more of a chance in the build up when we played Liverpool in '92.

It's classic narcissistic behaviour, I mean do you recognise any of this......

Symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and how severe they are can vary. People with the disorder can:

  • Have an unreasonably high sense of self-importance and require constant, excessive admiration.
  • Feel that they deserve privileges and special treatment.
  • Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements.
  • Make achievements and talents seem bigger than they are.
  • Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate.
  • Believe they are superior to others and can only spend time with or be understood by equally special people.
  • Be critical of and look down on people they feel are not important.
  • Expect special favors and expect other people to do what they want without questioning them.
  • Take advantage of others to get what they want.
  • Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others.
  • Be envious of others and believe others envy them.
  • Behave in an arrogant way, brag a lot and come across as conceited.
  • Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office.
At the same time, people with narcissistic personality disorder have trouble handling anything they view as criticism. They can:

  • Become impatient or angry when they don't receive special recognition or treatment.
  • Have major problems interacting with others and easily feel slighted.
  • React with rage or contempt and try to belittle other people to make themselves appear superior.
  • Have difficulty managing their emotions and behavior.
  • Experience major problems dealing with stress and adapting to change.
  • Withdraw from or avoid situations in which they might fail.
  • Feel depressed and moody because they fall short of perfection.
  • Have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, humiliation and fear of being exposed as a failure.

It was a 70-30 match. A very slight underdog but definitely no shock.

What would we have been in 73? 10% chance at most?

I think it was closer than 70-30 but that's easy to say in retrospect.

Looking back at '73 and the respective teams, and also what the FA Cup meant in those days, I think you are probably spot on, 10% at the very most.

In 73 I thought Leeds would just tire us out as they were a great passing team and get a couple of goals in the 2nd half.

Strange how things work out. Monty's double save and Dave Watson's heading were unbelievable.

In 1973 we lived what was called “The Impossible Dream”
I lived the playing with my Tonka Toys in front of the telly and getting a fright when my da and my Uncle Michael jumped up shouting when we scored, dream

The open top bus parade (unlucky mags fans) was one of my earliest, if not the earliest, memories, I was outside of the Cambridge pub with my Ma and Da, our kid stopped in the house with my next door neighbour (rip) babysitting (unlucky Herbal) and we waited for what seemed like forever. I remember amusing myself as kids do by digging the moss out from between the paving stones and throwing it about, then suddenly hearing this noise from further up the road. I was hoisted onto my da's shoulders and being scared and excited as this wave of noise and animation rolled slowly along the crowd towards us.

It’s a very extreme case of superiority complex and narcissism

Exactly this in a nutshell they've got classic narcissistic characteristics the lot of the f*****s

Fabulous memory @Sneech yes it was a very, very long wait for the open bus parade. The parade started at Carville on the A690 with people lining the carriage way all the way to Durham Road in Sunderland where throngs were gathered any vantage point taken (tops of bus shelters etc) Through the town centre the same, then Monkwearmouth, Fulwell roker the same. In addition there was a large crowd at least 12,000 inside Roker Park itself.

I wonder if there have been many cases in history of collective mass narcissism??
Only them and the Romans and we all no what happened to them

That'll be nowt compared to the mass histeria and narcissistic behaviour of what we're about to witness from the collective Jawdi nation next week reckon there'll be close on 10 million on the streets
