Look North. Again.

Tin hat on a bit here but I remember Look North/ITV Tyne Tees giving us plenty decent coverage over the years when we’ve had finals, even second and third division playoff ones. I remember in particular a really touching montage they did showing clips from the entire weekend of the fans and even clips and interviews of the fans back watching in Sunderland after the Man City 2014 final, it had Elvis Can’t Help Falling In Love With You played over the top of it and was a really good emotional segment. I’m sure I remember it being talked about at length on here.

Going further back they always used to give good live coverage of the open top parades in the Reidy days as well, interviewing players and Reid himself while the bus tootled about down Seaburn.

Don’t get me wrong, the local media in general do have their tongues firmly lodged up the mags arses these days it seems but when they’re in, and unfortunately win a cup final, they’re bound to give good coverage. It’s very easily avoidable thankfully, have no idea why any SAFC supporter would put themselves through watching it just after they’ve won a final. Some of the local print journos are far worse with their Shakespearean-like bollocks they spout about anything nufc related, but again even they’re mostly easy to avoid unless you come across something via a retweet or on here.

If we'd won the cup they'd have had the mag highlights on first, then Boro, then Hartlepool, then a story about a stray cat entering the pitch at Newcastle Blue Star and scoring a bicycle kick, followed by a short segment on us, highlighting how the ref or lino had got a decision wrong and it impacted the result, insinuating that it was a false win and we should from a moral perspective, return the cup.

They'd show the opposition scoring, miss out our goals and the final interview would be of one of our fans who didn't attend the game and hasn't attended for 30 years, has a patch, one tooth and was found drinking a can of Mongolian pilsner. When asked about the game, his response would be "By lad, did you see that cat score the bicycle kick at Blue Star?."

Nice try ....but unfortunately this is all in the distant past ....much has changed! Since money-Oil took over

Aah bless you sweetie I didn’t know you cared that much about me SMB

You come across as quite a sad, bitter and obsessed person…

Has life been that hard on you? Does Sunlun really get under your skin that much you spend so much time on here / what enjoyment do you get from it??

Don’t waste your time and energy. Life is too short, just enjoy following your team without being so bitter and twisted.

I appreciate following a club that has contributed very little to English football (in the grand scheme of things) and has had to sell its soul to achieve some “success” must feel very empty. However, just try your best to enjoy it.

I have tried to write a response on here giving my opinion, but I have to be honest I’m now numb to it as the damage has already been done and evil has overcome good and all for the sake of a shiny little trophy. I have supported Sunderland since around 1980 and have seen more than my share of ups and downs, but I have always dared to dream. If that dream meant winning the league or fa cup or the premier title or the champions league and along the way we signed the best players out there then I would be all over it. That is unless it meant we had to sacrifice our identity and allow our club to be bought out only to be used as a sportswashing tool. If it were my club I would genuinely walk away until they left. Make no mistake Newcastle United were hand picked for this purpose as their fan base have been starved of success and would allow anything as long as they got to hold up a trophy. It’s sad.
Totally this.

The lads from Riyadh knew exactly what they were doing for their first foray into football. The perceived exceptionalism and the limitless entitlement within their fan base was absolutely mannah from heaven for the Al Saud regime.

I was wondering if that or any of the other great developments and investment in Sunlun were being highlighted or reported on with any interest on there?

If given the choice or not watching our away games I can’t get to on TV I wouldn’t bother.

The “local” BBC is effectively becoming Tyneside/and now in turn Saudi influenced state TV (given their investment in NUFC)

I’ve not seen or heard any of the local “journalists” or MPs question where the money is coming from in the investment in Newcastle or what used to be their football club.

I simply refuse to watch it. If the shoe was on the other foot I’ve no doubt more would be made of Saudi’s human-rights violations.
As a Labour supporter I’m disgusted at the Newcastle Labour Mps.

People need to take a stand against sportswashing they actively encouraged Johnson to turn a blind eye.

I’ve never seen anyone make those “difficult ethical choices” and then grovel the way the mags do though. They don’t have to do that. There’s no need to buy the green Saudi kit but they do so in their thousands because they want to.

They don’t have to cheer Al Rumayyan to when he lifts the trophy on the pitch. They could all have given him a V sign and then carried on the party. That’s certainly what Man United fans would do if the Glazers appeared on the pitch with a trophy. The mags would never dream of doing that though.

Have you ever seen any other fans celebrate anything like this?

The grovelling and lack of pride is entirely unique to the mags - no other set of fans has ever gone on like this. Completely shameless.
So desperate for success they wouldn't dream of upsetting the source of the money.

This all over. You can guarantee if it had been us in the final our first goal would have come"against the run of play ".

f***ing hell man

It's actually quite shocking like considering all the homosexuals imprisoned or worse, the migrant workers stopped from returning home, murdering of journalists, oppressive lack of women's rights. You would hope at the very least if you're backed with blood money they'd keep quiet but not praise the regime.

Guarantee 90% of the fans don't have a clue what happens outside Bigg Market getting a Wendy's though so probably don't even know what's going on

Thursday night and they're still going on about it 😂
Thought exactly the same, wondering how they will give it a mention tomorrow. Tried to get the control to switch it off. Not sure how the Gateshead Angel is part of Newcastle but they seem to think so, muppets.

I haven’t watched any local news this week, nor listened to local radio/total sport, and it’s been a complete social media blackout (being going that way recently for me anyway; too much shite on them all).

Even my WhatsApp groups have been quiet.

Let’s face it dark forces control the narrative from media and politicians.

Everything is Newcastle centric and has been for a long time. It’s where the money and influence is and most definitely is where the indoctrination is.

Iam still a bit flummoxed how Sunderland city centre got a bit of money to spend.
