Look North. Again.

Let be fair in our own way we all do the same.

Who buys, fair trade coffee or chocolate? Primary, Nick & Adidas all have link to child labour. Palm Oil forest devastation, the list goes on. Most turn a blind eye just so they can eat their favourite Chocolate.

I doubt there are many Mags out there, that wouldn't swap the Saudi's for something ethically more correct, if it would put them in a similar position as they are now. But there isn't and subsequently they're going to willfully ignore the unethical practices of the Saudi government. In much the same was as someone who would prefer to get their their fashion at an ethically more suitable place than Primark but doesn't because its more expensive and the want the extra cash for drinks in the evening.
Not really the same. If I'm stuck at the airport and need a lift, I'll get an Uber. Yes there is an ethical question about using them. But, if giving a choice I'd get the bus or train, even arrange a lift of a friend. Unfortunately, you are going to make unethical choices in life, most of the time you will do it without known.

The difference is demanding that you use a company knowing they are unethical. That's what the Mags did. They knew all about Saudi Arabia and their human rights record. They knew about the war in Yemen and their involvement in 9/11. They knew about the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. Yet they protested not to block it but for it to go through. They celebrated it.

they shouted at shops and wouldn’t put money into their own club even cancelling season tickets when Ashley was in charge, they even called out his human rights record on zero hour contracts.

Then 100k supported a petition to bring a murderous regime in.

Says it all about their fans.

I have tried to write a response on here giving my opinion, but I have to be honest I’m now numb to it as the damage has already been done and evil has overcome good and all for the sake of a shiny little trophy. I have supported Sunderland since around 1980 and have seen more than my share of ups and downs, but I have always dared to dream. If that dream meant winning the league or fa cup or the premier title or the champions league and along the way we signed the best players out there then I would be all over it. That is unless it meant we had to sacrifice our identity and allow our club to be bought out only to be used as a sportswashing tool. If it were my club I would genuinely walk away until they left. Make no mistake Newcastle United were hand picked for this purpose as their fan base have been starved of success and would allow anything as long as they got to hold up a trophy. It’s sad.

Hear hear. Couldn't agree more.

Mag fans literally travelled down to london to protest. Stood outside premier league headquarters etc desperate to get taken over by pif. Wearing tea towels on their heads etc when it was finally announced. So that bit is a bit revisionist saying that none of it falls on the fans. I can understand it was probably quite easy to get swept up in it all. Despite how abhorrent saudi is on many things

Simon Jordan has described their cup final win perfectly when he says there’s been a big overreaction to it and that it’s being made out to be more special than it is. What about the clubs that haven’t won a trophy or have gone even longer than they did.
Hope there is as much made about Brighton's journey if they win the more significant FA Cup......been homeless, in the lower leagues, had to play at an athletics stadium, and are now a well run club unaided by state ownership

Do Brighton have an equivalent Sky reporter to fanboy Keith

They were in the 4th division in 2008, only got promoted to the premier league in 2017, and tier biggest achievement is FA cup runner up in '82.

When you include all of the stuff you said, playing 2 full seasons using Gillinghams home ground 70 miles away . The only just stayed in the football league in 1997 on the last game of the season on goal difference

They've had it a million times harder than any mag, but there won't be an ounce of the fawning and fanny gushing if they win the FA cup.
