My biggest concern was how it all looked like 12 Monkeys costumes and sets.Damn. Have been looking forward to this. Jonathan Ross slated it on his film podcast yesterday as well.

ive never seen 12 monkeys, is that a similar setup? My biggest concern was how it all looked like 12 Monkeys costumes and sets.
Not at all but everything I’ve seen from Mickey 17 looks like they just recycled from the future part of 12 Monkeys…including the Gilliamesque caricatures (ruffalo for instance)ive never seen 12 monkeys, is that a similar setup?

Jeunet was actually my first call but didn’t know how many would get that reference.Gilliam made much more judicious use of those kinds of caricatures though
As did Jeunet and Caro

Just treated myself to the 4k Blu Ray of City of Lost Children
I’ve stopped buying discs, unless they’re super rare. But have it in apple. Along with Delicatessen. Both updated to 4k but can’t say I’ve checked since.
you should rectify that, its a great film!ive never seen 12 monkeys, is that a similar setup?
Nice. Great film, I've still got the VHS of this.Just treated myself to the 4k Blu Ray of City of Lost Children
Very festive opening.Just treated myself to the 4k Blu Ray of City of Lost Children
Yeah, the songs were really weak in comparison, they just tried to re-create the originals songs like for like but didn't get close.Agreed. Although the bairn loved it. It missed not have Lin Manuel Miranda doing the tunes.
Set up for 3rd. Oh and the live action remake of the first one is out next year as well.
Thats even more depressing
The weird thing is it's based on a book by Simon Stalenhag who creates really interesting and unusual sci fi stories and images. His book Tales From the Loop is wonderful, and turned into a really beautifully made TV series
I didn’t know, I like his art, but couldn’t really get into TFTL
it’s a belter. I would concur with your scoring.State of Grace [1990] 8/10
Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Terry returns home after ten years. He reconnects with Jackie, a childhood friend and member of the Irish mob, and rekindles his love affair with Jackie’s sister Kathleen.
Any mob film that comes out the same week as Goodfellas is probably going to get overlooked. Sadly, this was but it's a gem waiting to be discovered. The cast is top-class - Sean Penn, Ed Harris, Gary Oldman, Robin Wright.
On Prime now.
Days of Thunder (1990)
Tom Cruise is the nascar racer with no regard for his own safety. A supporting cast including Nicole Kidman, Robert Duval and Michael Rooker are served poorly by a silly script. Some typical Tony Scott flair make the last 20 very watchable but it can’t make up for a paper thin plot.
4/10
Yep, the only reason I’ve decided to watch it. Looking forward to listening to them talk about Don Simpson during the making of this.Currently listening to the second best film podcast in the world, the Rewatchables, their latest episode is Days of Thunder
