How did Cardiff’s goal stand ?

There was an earlier looping cross, that would have been an easy catch - he didn’t come for it.

This was more difficult and even without the ‘foul’ he’d slightly misjudged and probably should have left

For me, that’s 4 consecutive games in which he’s contributed to a goal due to poor judgement/positioning/handling.

That said, he made a great save later on tipping a shot onto the post, which looked like a goal all day.

He’s not convincing and needs to work on his footwork and distribution
"That said, he made a great save later on tipping a shot onto the post, which looked like a goal all day."

Spot on. It was a superb save

It’s a 100% a foul, how can the strikers arm be described as doing anything else apart from impeding the keeper?

On another note I’d be be having a word with Hjelde for allowing the striker a free jump, defending 101 win the header and if you can’t then put your body on the attacking so he can’t have a free jump.

Can’t see Mepham or certainly not shithouse O’Nien allowing that.

Roy Keane’s “Come with violence” quote about Swamy’s McDonough sprang to mind like.

Seems we’re in the minority here. I don’t think he’s getting it even without a challenge
I think he probably just gets fingers to it but if he can’t get it I wouldn’t really blame him- he certainly had to go for it.

Watching from the NE corner as the centre came in from O’Dowda the Cardiff attacker challenged Patterson with a raised right arm straight into Patterson who was knocked to the ground. The ref had a good view of the challenge . The asst ref had the bright sun in her eyes.
HT we should’ve been 3 goals up.
I heard fans on the car radio complaining, post match that Patterson should be dropped as he mishandled the ball.

A clear foul in my eyes ,leading with an extended, raised right arm attacking the goal and colliding with the goalie’s head/face and knocking him to the ground.
Patto ran into the striker in my opinion, he was up straight committed for the header, and he clattered into him. How can that be a foul?

Foul or not seems opposition teams are targeting him now with hopeful balls onto the box, I know I would
This is the problem ... teams know his weakness. He (and the coaching staff) need to recognise that and work on it day in day out ... From what I've seen, it was a foul, but no more of a challenge than keepers face multiple times each game. Patterson though, seems to be stretching way more than he should. The attacker seems higher than him in his jump and therefore has the advantage. Patterson needs to work on his jumping so that he is using his height and body weight to protect him from the attackers.

Keepers don’t have momentum on their side when jumping so aren’t generally getting as far off the ground. Of course they can use their hands which usually counters that!

im generally critical of Patto for not claiming. With his bulk he should be a battering ram and he needs to learn to punch a ball 30 yards.
i was critical of him over their goal yesterday but seeing it in slow mo he was definitely fouled and i think without Hjelder adding his weight to the attacker he'd still have had the momentum to win that one.
Punch it and its all null and void though

Thats a bit like the old irish joke " Excuse me sir , can you direct me to Dublin ? Well now if i was you i wouldnt start from here "
You know what I mean. He gets his starting position right and the foul doesn't happen because the the ball is his at its highest point.

He's got the advantage of his arms..

People will still look at this and blame Patto 🤷‍♂️

Some people are too entrenched in their own opinion or agenda that “Fatto” is “shite” to admit it was a foul and error by the referee.

99/100 that gets blown for a foul! You could argue GK are too protected these days but that was a foul all day.

who knows , might be a technical thing about how he jumps or as you say where he lifts off from that quickening his feet might alter. . All for the goalie coach to look at . Either way hes going to have a busy pre season

I can’t disagree. The players look more ‘set’ to get the ball, Patterson comes a long way and he runs into them imo.

If we’d had that disallowed I would be more than disappointed.

Mate it was a clear foul, the ref was right in front of it, which makes you think he's shown bias in his decision.

People can debate whether or not Patterson should have cleared the ball regardless, but ultimately it was a foul.

His arm doesn't need to be where it is, that isn't natural, you don't jump like that, he's clearly tried to disrupt Patterson and it's worked.
