Nissan

Everybody finds out where they are going by 14th march. And from then till and of march they will start getting moved onto new zones ready for new shifts in April.
Nobody is getting moved until 31st march.
Both lines are still operating as normal until then.

You should have seen it in the 80's lol, there were lots of Japanese Nissan staff here getting it all sorted and training people for a good couple of years...

You felt obliged to bow to them as they walked past in the corridors as they always did the same to you...To be fair they all seemed canny people...

Remember the first MD Toshurigi Tsuchiya came over on a plant visit once and stood on a platform and talked to everyone stood in front of him in Japanese !! 🤔

Now that did feel like Tenko, the big Japanese boss shouting at you in a foreign language, still I lasted 35 years so can't have been all bad...

I was the Purchasing Manager for Hella Lighting early 90’s and supplied lamps for both Primera and Micra.
Had a few Japanese coming down and we constantly had your Supplier Development team down early days.
In fairness the UK Nissan team were alright. They would talk about Sunderland and Newcastle as much as improvements.

Said earlier in the thread I did a bit of temp work for a supplier after being made redundant, in January we got a brief sent around with this years holidays which had 5 floating days and the rest shutdowns and bank Holidays. Job wasn't too bad but not a chance I'd work somewhere I couldn't choose my own holidays.
Worked there for 7 weeks as a young’n, never again.

Hell hole of a place who treat their employees like shit on their shoe

Sounds like it. The pay sounded the only incentive to put up with it; now that element is taken away, why struggle on in a place that could go bust?

Bet most of those hard-working lads could turn their hands to something better if they believed in themselves.
