Nissan

Not a contract lawyer or owt and don't work at Nissan.

If someone is in receipt of an allowance for years, even if not contractual, does it not become contractual after a certain amount of time ?

In other words can they just take any shift allowance off workers ?

12% is getting of lightly, the trades on the sites are down 35%
Most Have to be self employed to work (no holiday pay) and have to buy thousands of quids worth of gear...
Yas av had it cushy

There used to be something called custom and practice in employment law but that wasn’t applicable to compensation.

You can guarantee Nissan will have their employment contracts watertight

Why can't everyone who wanted just day shift just go to line 1 and the ones who want shifts come to line 2, so many day shift requests not complete because no one wants the back shift.... Nissan have an opportunity here to keep people happyish

Is that a recent thing? Thought you lads were raking it in atm?

And you trust these lot saying there’s not going to be any job cuts lol? Let’s see how well they are doing in the next 18 months.
Yes will be interesting to see, would not trust them as far as I could throw them tbh..

All I know is Alan J****** told me in a skip meeting there will be no more recap son when I was 54 and said I would leave at 55 with it...

At 55 my gaffer said you retiring then as planned, I said no I am going to save my recap money up anyway by stopping a bit and taking even more out of them...

Sure enough, 20 months later when I left I had far more extra saved than if I had got recap and gone at 55,

And a good deal more pension both lumpa and monthly, and the extra monthly will cost them another £20k more every 10 years I live, a lot more than if they had just given me recap at 55...

Ok I had to stay another 20 months but on 3 shifts doing about the equivalent of 1 shifts work compared to back in the 80/90's it was money for nothing...

And with all the oncosts they had to pay including my top of the band wages, their NI for me and £800 a month in the SW pension etc, it must have cost them at least double more than giving me the actual recap...

If only they had given me the recap I told the gaffer when I eventually left, it would have saved them a fortune - oh he did laugh...

I am also not a lawyer, but think that would only be applicable if you were unofficially paid the allowance rather than it being contracted.

A lot of the time I think GCHQ would struggle to decipher this thread, but I don’t think the allowance has been taken away, Nissan are just being dicks and having people work the times where shift allowance isn’t payable?

There will only be so many retirees in the next few years. They can’t rely on that forever.
And as for hierarchy telling us what the future holds you have to laugh.
They’ve just swapped team leaders and supervisors all over trim and chassis and then announced they are going onto 1 shift.
Steady decline since before Covid, 3 shifts, 2 shifts, 1 shift. What could possibly be next?

Not quite the current subject of the thread but there seems to be a few decent deals around on the Ariya and the specs look decent. Anyone any experience in real life?

Still do OK mate, since covid, all new sites just change the house names and move a wall, prices slashed, brickies are on between 575/600 per 1000, they were getting that 10 years ago and have a lot more clart on to go with it now pal
Sounds like Brexit wasn't the magic fix we've been given to understand.

Still get thick qs's and directors, company making record profits, it'll come back as doe....then go again....
Unfortunately it's blairs education education education lot running shows atm, that have no real idea of how things get built, and supressing the lads whos graft gets there bonus, healthcare and tesla will have a negative affect on the company when there's no one to build owt... they're getting found out bit by bit

Said exactly the same onto not a prison camp try to keep people happy !
There is only 60 people across the plant who have got the split they want, loads of requests not complete because they can't find a back shift partner... It's the right thing to do we all work for Nissan and can adapt easily to new models with bit of training so it shouldn't be an issue really
