Booing the team off

Got up and left on the final whistle. I am certain the booing achieved nothing. It doesn’t motivate the players and they will know they have underperformed. Quick chorus of you don’t know what you are doing at the ref for the handball he missed would have been more appropriate.

I don’t like it and don’t think for their efforts this season they deserved it, but it was half hearted boos at worst imo.

Booing is for simpletons. Same people will claim we are "the greatest supporters in the world" yet boo the team off in the first home defeat of the season.

Absolutely embarrassing behaviour and achieves nothing other than to show demotivate the players and make the fan base look pathetic

at home our support has been awful this season

Not true though is it. About 38,000 turning up every match isn't awful. Just about all of the time the fans have been behind the team. The odd daft thing like Patterson being jeered yesterday but at the same time it wasn't many doing that.

Noise could be better aye.

People have got their hopes up and the disappointment has hurt them. In reality the squad and recruitment have done very well and there's no shame in falling short tbh. Just need to regroup and get some rest in and go again. Important the fans don't chuck the towel in with the playoffs.

At least if the worst happens we lose in play offs all those booing will be the ones who won't bother coming back next season

Booing isn't an indication of how loyal a fan is. It only means that the type of person who does that, is the type of person who likes to vent when things don't go their way.

Yes, but support and attendance are two different things.
Attendance at home has been good, support has been poor, booing of players and leaving before the end,etc
It all changes once Elvis has sung.

Support is shown in different ways. Just because people aren't singing songs, it doesn't mean they're not behind the team.

Agree with the early leavers point though. Is it just me or has it got better recently? Fewer early leavers? I could be imagining it.

As for booing, it's rarely happened, it's a small minority, I don't think using that to demonstrate that the support 'has been awful all season' is legitimate.

Yes being there, buying things from the club shop etc is a way of supporting the team.
However, it does nothing for the atmosphere in the ground and is not really enough.
When we start thinking that not booing the team off, having stayed to the end, is good support, then football is really done.

I don’t agree with it one bit but the overriding feeling in the stadium is that we’ve seen our home form dip at the worst possible time - and people are deeply frustrated with our inability to take the game to the opposition.

Players who’ve been excellent home & away appear to be struggling to impose themselves at the SOL. Fans see this & some feel it’s a lack of tactical nous from the manager - hence the displeasure.

Hopefully they’ll rethink & accept we were never ready for top 2 & have overachieved if anything.

It's across all clubs. Man City fans have done it this season. Saudi fans have done it.

It's a fan issue generally.

You won’t get far on here with common sense posts like this
