Alan Brazil talksport

Average woman in the UK nowadays is the same size as the average man in 1890 when football went professional. Were the goals too big for the men’s game back then?

Have you seen men’s keepers on film footage pre 1950? They dove about as badly as the women’s keepers do now.

Woman’s pro game is at the stage the men’s pro game was in 1905.
Tbf the men were playing with medicine balls so that negated the size of the goal somewhat.

Then we have the women who want the same slice of the pie as blokes 😂😂😂
Emboldened today aren’t we. Opening post has been shown to be economical with the truth. Then you follow it up with another one with the same amount of truth twisting.

In the US yes. Where the women’s national team makes more money for their football authority than the men’s does.
You can’t have it both ways

Based on that the womens game should catch up on the mens game by the year 2145 by which the men will have also got better. There is no comparison and never will be, either enjoy it for what it is or dont watch it, its as simple as that

Physically, women will never have the capabilities of men. The goals should be smaller. It'd make it better to watch, and more competitive. They've done similar to this in other sports - in the WNBA the 3-Point line is shorter than the same line in the NBA, for example.

The argument against it is that it'd be less accessible, and that's why (despite arguments for it) the women's basket height is the same as the men's. If women had smaller goals, would they bother to play on a pitch with full size goals whilst growing up etc.? Would sport facilities need two sets of goals/two pitches?

I don't think the argument of 'the game is still in it's infancy' could be an argument against making the goals smaller. It's far past where the men's was in 1905. The money and facilities involved makes it much more comparable to modern day standards, despite the obvious lack of accessability to football for the now professionals playing in women's football whilst they were kids. You'd think that the next generation of women's players will be very good with the amount of girls' teams popping up and actual competitive leagues from a young age. The goalkeepers will still look incomparable to the mens' counterparts.

The mens game is at the standard it is at due to years of investment and development. The womens game hasn't had that, and as such the standard is a lot less. It needs the investment, it needs the development in order to progress and get to a similar level.

I'll happily watch Sunderland womens, or England womens. Having said that I sold my womens Euro final tickets to watch Sunderland vs Coventry
I don’t think women are built as strong and athletically as men therefore I don’t think any amount of investment will bring the women’s game on a par with the mens game. I have no problem with women’s football and think it has a valuable place now giving lots of girls the chance to enjoy playing the game. The only issue I have is people trying to compare it to the mens game when it isn’t the same. The women’s game for me personally is too slow, but there are some very good technically gifted players with the ball, however I’ve yet to see a keeper who is higher than pub level standard and that is my genuine thoughts on it. Good luck to the women of the game and I hope they do well, but it is t anywhere near as good as the mens game. I might also be called a sexist and I will take that on the chin, but it is my true thoughts on it.

The problem with the women’s game is there is nobody to make the half-time sandwiches.

agree with this
the technical ability of the outfield players has improved but the keepers are still fukkin shit

What a great listen this morning.

The intolerable shebane waffling on about the Man Utd ‘project’ trying to shoe horn the womens team into it.

Brazil ‘nobody gives a stuff about the womens team’

Somebody had to say it 😂😂😂

Think he's class me. Although I do like Sheban as well (wad.)
