Sunderland railway station.

All travel writers say the greatest experience of rail travel is the mounting excitement of the journey then the arrival and all the exciting potential it offers as you step off the train

I rest my case m’lud

We know the North end is in plans to open up as a 'gateway' entrance to the city as it once was, whether they get the funding sorted is another thing...however the train station for the City has to be in the city centre tho....have you seen the state of Bridge Street btw as a welcoming site?..your greeted with Mackem Pizza and some asylum housing
Plenty stations in cities around the country aren’t in the exact city centre…
Whether its years away or not if it happens it would be miles better than over the water
It wouldn’t be. Monkwearmouth is beautiful building, whatever is built won’t be.

So basically northern and network rail still don't care
It is exactly this, with added slowing down from Nexus. Nexus are largely made up of Neanderthal mags who absolutely hate anything to do with Sunderland and will do everything they can to denigrate our city.
It’s a shame they didn't work with Burger King or similar to take part of the space up and pre fitting some catering area . I know it's not exactly a classy joint but it was always busy and at least somewhere to get a coffee etc whilst waiting for a train
That Burger King was a franchise - ie owned and operated by an individual/small company under licence from BK. So getting another will depend on there being someone looking to take it on.

Interest rates are still relatively high following Trussonomics and that inhibits investment. They’ll likely come down a bit today and should drop more over the rest of the year, which will make investment more likely.

The likes of Bristol and Cambridge are a lot further out of the centre than monkwearmouth is too.
All pie in the sky stuff mind…
