Sunderland railway station.

It's shit, you come out and you're met with the mess of market square and those hideous tower blocks.

It's an awful first impression.
We know the North end is in plans to open up as a 'gateway' entrance to the city as it once was, whether they get the funding sorted is another thing...however the train station for the City has to be in the city centre tho....have you seen the state of Bridge Street btw as a welcoming site?..your greeted with Mackem Pizza and some asylum housing

I was thinking a new entrance the other side of bridge street, opening up onto the new sheepfolds site, with the new bridge it's a short walk to Keel Square.

Its a shame they didn't work with Burger King or similar to take part of the space up and pre fitting some catering area . I know it's not exactly a classy joint but it was always busy and at least somewhere to get a coffee etc whilst waiting for a train

yes and Blandford St is like Greenwich Village
Think the demographics of those that frequent Blandford Street are slightly different from those of the village mind

Can see what you mean but I think plan is to improve more areas and push outwards in all directions. We've concentrated of a few smaller areas initially to kick start growth. Next phase must be to replicate that elsewhere.
