Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Being a lifelong Sunderland fan at 18 year old I would want to make my mark at my hometown club before moving on personally. Money will come and go but when your sat back in the stands at 50 year old I think it’s something you would regret not playing more then a handful of games! Also development wise he will get better first team opportunities here!
Yeah I think you’re right, it is the sort of nostalgic cr@p he would come out with at 50 year old because it would be a nice story , however the reality is at 18 years old nostalgia isn’t in the vocabulary and it’s “ show me the money”.

See for me a deal from a Premier League team, which wasn't just random rumours, I'd have my bags packed and ready. Whether I regretted that when I'm older - who knows, guess it depends where my career went to be honest. A chance to play in the top league in the world I just couldn't turn down, especially one who is generally successful with young players like Brighton. Can see the opposite argument aswell, of course.
He’s just starting getting games in the first team for his hometown club. If it were me I’d love to be playing infront of my family and friends, and let’s be honest sooner or later The premier league will come for Sunderland, why the hell would you not want to stay at home and be apart of that especially at just 18.

Lad isn’t getting into any of those first teams anytime soon. Find it strange that a boyhood SAFC fan who at 18 has broken into the 1st team would be wanting to leave. Money talks.

Premier League > Home Club for me like. Nothing more really, especially with Brighton who have a good track record of breaking players through. If it was someone like Fulham or Crystal Palace (no offence to either) then I might have a different opinion and be more 50/50.

Can't see him pushing for the move personally but there's a reason Brighton have made multiple bids now, Brighton aren't gonna go in for a player in two different windows if there hasn't been at least a tiny bit of positive feedback from his agent.

Club should have the foresight to say no and realise if we can tie him to a new contract and give him another year or two, he’ll be worth much more than the figures being quoted. Perhaps suggests the club have offered Tommy a new deal which he’s rebuffed.

Don’t like how it seems the club drops its kegs anytime an offer of 10m comes in.
