Jack Clarke

He’s played left wing for them. They may play a bit more narrow than we do, but it’s the same position.

For whatever reason, the manager doesn’t rate him & the chances he’s had at premier league (admittedly not a lot), he hasn’t taken.

When I’ve seen him playing for Ipswich on highlights or live games, he doesn’t seem to have that confidence to take on the full back - more than likely because prem full backs are better and deal with better wingers than Clarke.

He’s got 0 goals and only a couple of assists this season, he’s not done well. There’s been some games where he’s played 60 mins+ as well, so let’s not pretend he’s been an unused sub all season.

I love Clarke and want him back here on loan, but let’s not pretend he hasn’t had an opportunity at Ipswich.
Agree with that till the last sentence, Mundle and Watson have done well till injuries, not sure he’d have made a difference till then

Watson is likely leaving.

Besides, both are injured and will take a while to get fully back to speed - which is why signing Clarke on loan is a no brainier if it’s possible imo.

Why do Ipswich keep buying wingers for big money ?
Both Philogen and Clarke on the bench today and Broadhead starts once again . Clarke got on in the 88th minute , Philogen didn't even get a run out.
Do McKenna and their DOF have different opinions on what formation and type of player they require ?
Tracked Philogene for a few windows, we had an offer accepted but Villa had a matching clause and he went back there. We signed Clarke instead. Clarke hasn’t had any impact through no fault of his own. Philogene became available. He’s a good long term asset whatever league we’re in. What that means for Clarke going forward I’m not sure.

If it was down to me I’d have Broadhead and Philogene as the two in that position

Have they agreed a fee?

Last I heard they offered £7m rising to £10m and we rejected wanting £10m up front.

I think he’ll go like, probs meet in the middle somewhere.

I’d take the £7m personally. He’s a cracking talent and will likely go for quite a bit more than that in the future. But no transfer fee we get for him will equal the money we’d get for promotion.

£7m with 15% sell on clause.

Well he wouldn't have dropped his arse on penalties and we'd have beat sheff utd and Burnley.

How different the table would look...
We'd have beaten Burnley but I'm not sure how people can claim we'd have beaten Sheff Utd. The penalty was early on, it certainly wasn't guaranteed that we'd go on to win.

Not a chance Broadhead or Philogene are better than Clarkey.

It’s also said to be £7m rising to £10m based on bonuses etc

Reckon we’d get £8m + bonuses and we’d sell.

Be absolutely staggered if Clarke came back

Just cannot see it

Cannot think of another example where a player has gone for big money in summer only to be loaned back to club 6 months later…

I think you’re probably right…it would be acknowledgement of a lack of competence from the folks who bought him

Normally would agree, but they are stuck paying wages for a non starter.Good chance of relegation so we might aswell help pay his wages and polish him up for next season when he returns to them

Loan with Obligation to buy in the summer for £16m Ipswich get their cash back we get Clarke back. Surely the club must be looking at making a deal
