Slightly off topic but I had to go to Bishop Auckland town centre yesterday. What an absolute hole. There is a stretch of Newgate Street that should just be knocked down. The rest isn’t much better. If ever an illustration of the decline of the high street was needed, look no further.

That bloke who is investing in Bishop Auckland must be crackers.

Used to work in Bishop and it had problems then, however Newgate Street has really taken a hammering. The Council are trying to improve things, replacement bus station and new / extended car park but have to wait and see how that goes. The area around the Bishops Palace has improved leaps and bounds we pop over occasionally just for a walk around the deer park etc. Popping into Breaking Bread for a breakfast, something I wouldn't have considered a few years ago.
In summary some good bits, some not so good, but at least trying to improve.

The bloke who is investing in Bishop has made a difference, not that I know a lot about him, just a shame there isn't a few more willing to do the same,.

had a dodge through for the miner's exhibition at the winter gardens last night. great photography and recollections. the room is well lit and the whole experience is well worth taking an hour to go and visit. pint after in the bridge hotel (first time and definitely be back), then the loser cruiser back to newcastle. that waiting area in the train station man

Got a cracker lined up for Saturday.

Out with the wife and in laws - plans subject to slight change.

Meal in Knowledge.

Walk up to Bridge Hotel Vaults
Possible detour to Diego’s if women allow
Three Stories
Keel Tavern
The Peacock

Into the Fire Station for Hue & Cry.
Diego’s is one of my locals now. Might be a bit Pansexual for my liking but the barmaids are nice and the beer is onpoint

Lavy is shared. I was in there getting a gypsies earlier and birds where asking me to not piss on the seat.

It’s amazing what this country will turn a blind eye to in the name of diversity . …

Grooming gangs being a case study
