*~*~* Sunderland v Plymouth match thread *~*~*

To be fair now that I've calmed down Plymouth had gone to Brentford recently and won 1-0. They were actually well -organised and determined. What the hell happened against Burnley I don't know but I would guess Burnley took most of their chances. We played poorly, should have lost and these things happen. My concern was the end of the game.Truly horrific tactics to shove defenders on. He has to stop that crap.
I had really poor seats, given where the action was, in the north east corner, so had a poor view and couldn't comprehend what went wrong until I got home and saw the highlights.

All I knew was that everything that went through Le Fée created multiple chances in the 1st half, but attempts to go down the right broke down again and again but couldn't make out why.

Samad was tidy, but massively lacked creativity and any thoughts of attacking play and forward progression. He was neat and tidy, but wasn't a patch on what Neil offers in that position. Hopefully this puts to bed those doubting Neil!

Looking at their goals, they were calamitous and so many basic opportunities to clear were missed, combined with good fortune on their part. Watching the highlights is like watching a Benny Hill sketch.

As I said before the match, we have a habit of conceding ridiculous barely deserved equalisers and that's exactly what happened, except this was also compounded by poor team selection, substitutions and below par performances, from players and coaches.

We've lauded Le Bris up until now, but he has to shoulder some responsibility for this debacle. Instead of overpowering Plymouth and going for their throats, we cowered behind defensive tactics that weren't working. They brought meat heads on to try and bundle a goal in and instead of seeing this as an opportunity, we succumbed to try and match them, failing miserably.

There needs to be honest conversations about this and a clear plan to counter this from happening again.

Ah well that's alright then.
What happened with Burnley was that Whittaker, our prima donna winger, refused to play just before the match because he was off to Middleborough. He has form in this having done it at Swansea. So, we came up to you with a 'have some of this' attitude'. fed up with being the league's worst performers. Good Luck for the rest of the season. (Argyle supporter)

Trai Hume created 3 chances and got an assist from the right hand side. Le Fee unfortunately crossed the ball too close to the keeper a couple of times and the other time blasted it towards Dan Neil's left side and he couldn't adjust in time.

We just didn't take our chances first half and probably didn't have enough bodies alive in the right areas a couple of times when their keeper pushed the ball out into the six yard box

Just read Bris's comments in the Echo about the game.
Apparently we were better in the first half! However we must do better in giving late goals away.

I disagree with the first point but agree with the 2nd.

Shame you couldn’t pull your finger out of your arse for most of your other games 🤷🏻‍♂️ good luck in league one next season

If the plan was that playing Samed would unleash Jobe and Neil it failed miserably. Both of them were poor IMO.
That had to be the plan, and something a lot of us on here have called for for ages.
Criticism of Samed has been a bit OTT. Not the only one of our midfielders to ever get caught in possession ( eg Dan Neil).
Quite a few of our team underperformed, it happens.
