Enfes Shandiz Gatsbys & Port of Call are good for food but I take your point.
Never been to either of those restaurants (yet) but I do like Port of Call and sometimes drink there. Gatsbys has never been my cup of tea but I haven’t actually been in since the refurb. Was often a place we’d end up when we stay out late in town and it always had an edge, but this was 1am sort of time tbf. Park Lane doesn’t bother me as such even though I wish it could be improved, but if I was wanting to show off Sunderland to people who aren’t familiar with the town it’s not an area I’d take them.

Gatsbys do a very good breakfast and Sunday lunch.
Chaplins and the Ivy House great for food too.

Also the Good Apple cafe is quality but only opens during the day.

Dont know what it is but just cant get away with going into the City Centre for drinks and food.
Never feel comfortable.
I ve tried but just dont enjoy it
Could you explain a bit more mate as that doesn't really make any sense on the face of it? How can you not feel comfortable eating or drinking in a pub/restaurant?

knew I d get the predictable shite for this but its just the way I feel..rest of family love it
Strange because in the 80s it was my place to go...Fusion,Finos etc were brilliant...but now I just dont feel comfortable there
They were clubs though
Some rough pubs in the 80s
Always drank in the town
Always my no1 go to rather than outlying areas
Not much of a restaurant lad but plenty choice

Don't think I've ever had a breakfast out in my own town
Seems odd leaving the house driving to town to order one
Had bacon sarnies from vans etc on way to work
If I was in a hotel somewhere I may look for one but normally in with room

Not odd though if you love within a ten minute walk of the city centre.

Even that
I'd just make something in the house then crack on with your day if it's weekend .
I get people do it .
I just never go near a FE unless I'm away
Surely that goes for any meal then? Breakfast is just a meal the same as any other, so why bother going out to eat at all when you can just make something in the house.

We all do ,most of the time but some meals do have more importance to them

You don't get all the family to go to a birthday breakfast Etc .
Leaving doo ,let's have a full English
It's just a bite you have before going out for the day

Sort of see where you’re coming from with that, but the reason for that is probably also occasions like that go hand in hand with a couple of drinks which rules out a breakfast. I love going out for breakfast and love a full English. Wish I did it more tbh.

North at Seaburn is probably the best breakfast out I’ve had.

I think that is an old attitude that younger people are doing away with. It is an occasion now and why can't it be?
Has been in other countries since for ever and is coming in here now.

Years ago you had to find a greasy spoon for a breakfast but everywhere does them now such is their popularity. I like a full english now and again but prefer eggs benedict etc these days. A bit avo included. Lovely.
