England 2025 Fixtures

Started 2 days later this year than in 1983. And finished only 2 days later than in 1983.

Blimey . Exact same calender. 41 years ago. Clueless.
Was that when we played 18 Championship games and the missing ones were rediculously played in July and August by any chance? I mean who would play 4 day cricket games in July and August? Its madness. The players are at risk of skin cancer. Far better to play these matches when its bitterly cold, dark and raining.
Or in the case of 1983 as an example, just reduce the number of games and take a way the ones played when the weather is likely to be decent.
Sorry I have got this completley wrong. The 1983 table (the year that is the benchmark apparently of when the county 4 day game should start and finish) shows that counties played 24 chanpionship matches. No wonder they had to start and finish in the winter (or two days either side of what we do now playing only 14 matches!!!)

Surely with 10 less games (40 days of play) we can condense the championship into the warm summer months? No? WTF?

Stop trying to defend the indefensible man.

24 three day games in 1983, surely?

So 72 days versus 56 now.

3 day matches then. And played two games a week.

Why do counties battling to stay alive want county championship games in mid of summer for??

Average of 18 paying spectators over a 4 day across all 4 days this season.

Should be played in December the counties would lose less money to be honest.

Cat 1 Pink £65 - 70 Available
Cat 2 Blue £60 - Loads

Want to share your source for that info?

As Surrey alone had 65,433 attendees for their games in 2024. I make that 9347 a game.

Below is a source claiming the 2023 attendance numbers. It's still the best attended FC competition in the world.

I await you backing up your claim.

Richard Thompson last year:

Finishing the Test season in July means the whole season feels truncated. The Test summer absolutely will not be squeezed like this in future.

Last test of the 2025 summer starts in July.

Arsehole.
And one more thing.

Which format has the most games in 2025?

50 over ODis, obviously. The format they've destroyed domestically.

Sometimes you have to take a step and look and the people that run the game in England and think: Are you actually just taking the piss? Are we all just victims of some hidden camera prank show and there's going to be some be reveal in 2026?
We have have had zoo keepers, cement factory merchants and a whole host of absolute whoppers in charge of our and other cricketing boards.

These people know fcuk all about cricket. All they have ever known is to grift. They do not have the best interests of the game at heart. Just their own bank balances.

Good governance should be a basic tenet not a target to aspire to.

Your maths is awry because you have forgotten we played three day championship cricket in 1983. So it’s still fewer days of play, but 56 instead of 72 which is only 14 fewer.
