We are back

That's what I mean. I think. Don't go up this year then we lose a load of players that ££ can't replace easily.
Agree - Coventry have spent the Gyokares and Hamer money and ended up worse off despite signing some half decent players for the level like Simms.

Going to be even harder if Southampton and Leicester come down next year. We need to go for it.

Well Folks, along with many I have had the view that the club bring ran in a sustainable manner was the right thing and have been broadly supportive of the club progress.

I have questioned again like many the ambition of the owners, was it a financial project or was it about the glory. At some point we were going to have put a squad of players together that had the quality and relevant experience to compete with clubs with greater resources.

The failure to acquire a credible striker has fed the doubt for 2 years.

This very clever recruitment today is a clear statement of intent. It’s almost a cheat code we get a Premiership quality player to help towards promotion but don’t pay for him until we get there.

Same goes for Isidor and Mepham.

We are still a striker short… If Isidor gets injured we are exposed but hopefully they will resolve that in remainder of window.

I truly believe we are good enough to get auto promoted now. ( esp with another credible striker)

If we retain Mepham, Isidor, Le Fee, Jobe, Neil, etc for next season in the prem should we get promoted I think we might just surprise ourselves

I believe… bring it on

We aren't spending 20 million on le fee if we don't go up nor will we keep jobe or mepham

If we go up I’m almost certain Mepham will sign for us. Jobe is a different story, I can see an offer coming in that we will not be able to refuse. The lad is a future England player, unfortunately the club is not at the level where we could keep him here.

I can’t believe the response from the richest club in the world 😂😂
It’s just a loan at present, we don’t even know if he’s going to live up to expectations yet but the reactions on social media from the black & white tossers has been embarrassing, that’s if you can make out what most of the thick bastards are saying.

It is if we go up. . .. except I reckon he's best off moving anyway in case he/we gets found out in the league above.

If he helps us get promoted his stock will be high, we will be one of the favourites to be relegated, he will have offers from established top flight clubs around Europe I’m sure of that. If he takes up one of those offers then good luck to him, we will benefit financially. I love SAFC but we will never be an elite club which is where Jobe is heading unfortunately for us.

We’ve been building for the last 3 years.

Bellingham was a great signing
Keeping Rigg was massive
Isidor was a statement signing
This is the next level
I’d go a bit further back and say that getting Clarke & Roberts onboard in league 1 was a statement of intent and a proverbial cheat code at that level. Both players have played a huge part in getting us to where we are today - and we got the money from Clarke to strengthen.

Dont get carried away lads, remember this is Sunlun and its a seaburn big dipper ride.
When we get dubbed 'the team of all talents' and 'Bank of England' club again then we are back.
Seen this sleeping giant stir a good few times.
It's exciting times like.

I just think it's funny how fickle many of us are(myself included!). Speakman has done wonderfully in getting us to where we are now - he certainly deserves criticism(not all of his signings have come off + Mick Beale) but he deserves a lot of praise too. Same for KLD, he made some missteps, to be sure, but he has also acquitted himself very well and grown into a competent, if not good, owner.

It’s only fickle if you say they’re shite one minute then genius the next. If they’re criticised for doing shite and downright stupid things but then given a load of credit for learning from mistakes that isn’t fickle like.

The recruitment last year, as well as managerial and off field appointments, was rank. But this season has shown real signs that they’ve learned the lessons and have gone about things in a far better fashion. And that is brilliant and all you can ask from the board.

Couldn’t agree more. Last season was a total shitshow but they have clearly learnt from their mistakes and the blend of youth and experience we now have in the team along with a striker who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net is night and day.

Add another proven striker to this team this window and we’ll finish top 2 imo.

We signed Bellingham, mundle and mayenda.
If we add 1 or 2 players every year as significant as Bellingham it can't be a 'rank' window. Most transfers aren't going to succeed.
The managerial appointment last year was the huge error. Speakman thought a coach was all these young lads needed , but they need someone to inspire and motivate them. Beale was never that man

We can go about things in a different fashion now as we are sustainable and have made money from transfers.

It isn't long ago we had the back to back relegations. Players taking the piss out of us. The gut wrenching anger I felt at some of the squad for clearly milking the club and not caring enough about it.

Then the early league one days where we had league one quality players, many of whom did appreciate the opportunity to play for our club but weren't good enough for the shirt. All the while being unable to spend money and financially being broken from the years that had gone before.

KLD, Speakman and teams have transformed the club into arguably the most forward thinking, best run and progressive outside of the top flight. Our academy is the envy of most clubs and having 5/6 academy players in the first team in touching distance of the top of the championship is such an outstanding achievement in itself.

It also means the squad care about the club like we do, and other players have came in (Isidor as an example) and feel that love and it means the fans and squad have a togetherness that was missing for years. Our unbeaten home record doesn't happen by accident. To think we went a calendar year without winning at home fairly recently shows you where we have been.

Well done all. Progress isn't a straight line and it won't be plain sailing to come. But as long as the team give 100% and we continue on this path we will succeed. Le Fee is a quality addition and long may it continue.

RLB has echoed what a lot of us on here have said, that we need quality that we can use now and not quantity for the future, and that’s exactly what we’ve got with this guy (judging by his record and the views of people who know him).

I’m not sure why this has happened now as opposed to when previous managers were stating similar requests. Maybe it’s a timing thing, that we feel we’ve got enough young talent in the tank now?

Whilst the club was, in my mind, rightly criticised over decisions over the last couple of years (last year being a cluster f@ck of a season) you’ve got to say they have got it right this season. Pretty much every decision seems to be paying off. Long may it continue.

Anyone who's watched us during our dip in form this season will have seen games where one or two of Rigg,Neil and Jobe have had poorer games,it's to be expected especially with Rigg being young and Neil being asked to play a different role.

This signing gives us more options and the ability to switch between 442,433 and the 4231 shapes.

Re Jobe I think he'll be off next year,I just hope we keep hold of Rigg and Neil next season.

This is a great post. There was a question yesterday about who is everyone’s favourite current player and I couldn’t answer that. We have a great group of talented, good lads who play for each other and the shirt. I couldn’t be happier and am going to enjoy the present rather than worrying about the past or future.
