I though Richard Jewell was excellent, even though that is 5 year old now.His last few have been poor tbh. But WB haven’t got a clue and until they get rid of that idiot at the top they’ll continue to get a shit ton more wrong than right.
Yeah I like this. Kenneth More is affable and Taina Elg looks the part. It’s great spotting era stars - Sid James, Leslie Dwyer, Duncan Lamont, Sam Kydd, Joan Hickson, James Hayter, Peter Vaughan, Brian Oulton, etc - and I’ve always enjoyed it.I know it’s probably heresy but I watched the 1959 version of Thirty Nine Steps again and loved it.
Hitchcock was snotty about it and the director disowned it but something about the colour is fantastic. Almost as good imo. 8/10
Enjoyed this, thought it was better than a 6 and especially liked the appalling Scottish accentsI Know Where I'm Going [1945] 6/10
Plucky Joan Webster travels to the Hebrides for her wedding. Trapped by weather on the Isle of Mull she finds herself charmed by the no-nonsense islanders and a local naval officer.
An early Powell & Pressburger romance that follows the traditional 'driven person finds themselves trapped in a small town for a short time and falls in love with the place/people, re-evaluates their life/goals and must decide whether to stay or leave'.
It ranks below their 'greats' (Red Shoes, Black Narcissus, Colonel Blimp, A Matter of Life and Death).
Decent but predictable.
Aye it's good, the animation capturing the way the animals move is fantastic, only bit that annoyed me was steering the boat.Flow (2024). Recent Golden Globe animation from Latvia with no dialogue. Brilliant!! 7.5/10.
Only 50% scoreThis underrated badboy before the Liverpool game.

I saw a real pain last week. I didn't think it was boring as fuck but I didn't think it was all that either. Peter Bradshaw of the guardian has given it 5 stars and called it a modern masterpiece.Body Double (1984) - 4th viewing of this and it's now my favourite De Palma film. Absolute masterpiece of headfuckery. Every scene is a subversion of standard cinematic sensibilities.
The Frankie Goes To Holywood scene is dynamite. 10/10
The Order (2024) - Very bland with thinly drawn characters and nowt much going on. Jude Law does all the heavy lifting while Hoult fails to convince (he's a very undynamic actor). 5/10
A Real Pain (2024) - Nowt much going on with this one. Feels like it's trying to tap into the meloncholy/humour vibes of more successful buddy movies like Sideways or The Trip but fails with both.
Boring as fuck. 4/10

I think he did the accent fine, but I couldn't understand the need for it either. Will Sharpe is his name, good actor and made the show 'Flowers', which is class if you haven't seen it....i enjoyed it, but its not a modern masterpiece...
it did make me want to book a trip to poland though...
edit: also, the one thing i couldnt get away with - the tour guides accent seemed to be some middle north generic accent except the actor is from camden (was just odd).
Just watched this, agree… it’s brilliant & pretty unique. 4 out of 5 for me.Flow (2024). Recent Golden Globe animation from Latvia with no dialogue. Brilliant!! 7.5/10.
???The Dog 11/10.
