Striker
Genuinely a quality rw and striker and we get promoted I thinkWe desperately need extra support out wide with the injuries to Mundle and Watson, Mayenda struggling out wide, and Roberts being a bit hot and cold.

What I’d say on it as a Towen season ticket holder and one who’s done half of our aways this season, he’s looked low on confidence since we signed him. I saw him play for yous on tv a few times and he’s a totally different player. And it’s been like that since day 1 of signing him bar a good half against Aston Villa.I can’t say I’m that clued into them but there’s him and Broadhead who seem to be favoured ahead of him, I do reckon your right like.
It just seems like a stupid signing for them and for him given the style they play. Kinda feel sorry for him. After his performances for us thought he’d step up no bother but to a team that plays with width seemed like an obvious must.
I think Clarke made the wrong decision for his career to go to Ipswich, but I'm sure the money was attractive.Hard not to feel sorry for him when they're signing another winger and he's barely getting a look in as it is. Feel like he has not been given a fair chance there at all and I'm not entirely sure what the thought process was when they signed him. They don't play to his strengths, they don't play him as a left winger where he flourished here, and he's been limited to 20 minutes here and there.
I know he's being well paid, but he seems like the sort of lad who genuinely loves playing football and doesn't want to waste away on the bench.
As much as I'd love him back, I think we'd be better off focusing on developing Mundle and Watson -- it's enough of a conundrum as is how we get those two on the pitch when both fit.
Think for a lad like him who'd never had a genuinely life-long wealth contract , he will have thought you have to take it because you never know what will / could happen. Given whatever he will be on now, he would probably think like that if he had the choice, but I don't blame him.How much money have Ipswich spent? 15-18m on Clarke, just to spend the same again to replace him less than six months later.
It took him a while to settle in here, and start to show his true worth. In hindsight he’d have been better off waiting for a team less likely to go down, as it would mean he’d have more than just one season to make an impact.
As it stands he’s had two PL moves and neither have worked out. He’s good enough imo, but both moves were the wrong club and wrong time. I think he was a really good fit for us, and if he’d stayed would be looking at the possibility of going up with us and being our main man.
His spurs contract would have been good, and he had a very good contact on the table hereThink for a lad like him who'd never had a genuinely life-long wealth contract , he will have thought you have to take it because you never know what will / could happen. If his contract offer here was £20k per week, after tax lets say £12k per week = £48k per month (i know, ridiculous) = just shy of £600k per year minus living, mortgage etc. Four year deal is "only" £2-3m quid minus living. I know it's outrageous but in terms of setting himself up for life, if there was a sure thing of a contract paying a lot more, I can see why he would have taken it. Now that he has that, he's likely able to think in football terms - I was a big fan and hoped he would stay. Within reason the numbers you can increase/ decrease...point is the same.It was a shit move for him - always was going to be, playing in a poor team pretty much guaranteed to be relegated that doesn’t play with a typical wide left attacking player was never going to get the best out of him.
He / Ian Harte should have waited for a better move, which would have come this month if he’d maintained his form for us, which he would have. With him in the team this season however we’d likely be higher in the table and he may well have decided to stay.
Really poor decision for him and he could have really screwed his career

I think he would have suited Brentford pretty wellI think Clarke made the wrong decision for his career to go to Ipswich, but I'm sure the money was attractive.
The problem with some players is they get into their niche club, which we were for Clarke, but never get that same sense of enjoyment again, and ultimately their careers go downhill. I cannot think of any PL club that he would have been ideally suited to, whereas here he revelled in being "the man", whilst playing with teammates he knew and liked.
He is not the first nor will he be the last footballer who moved to the wrong Club at the wrong time. The sort of pressure that Ipswich is under is probably not the best atmosphere in which anyone would expect a young player who is new to the Premier League to flourish .I think Clarke made the wrong decision for his career to go to Ipswich, but I'm sure the money was attractive.

Need a right back as well to cover marra ?Genuinely a quality rw and striker and we get promoted I think
It’s been discussed on here quite a bit that he isn’t played in his best position at Ipswich. He’s an old school chalk on his boots winger who likes the room to cut inside but has the ability to beat the man down the line too. He was never as effective when we played him in a more central role and he appears to play more as an inside forward for your team. What I’d say on it as a Towen season ticket holder and one who’s done half of our aways this season, he’s looked low on confidence since we signed him. Not sure why but he’s just not doing it and gives the ball away a fair bit. Szmodics has frankly offered us so much more and it’s not even close as to who most of us would prefer based on this season. Whereas in pre season when it was clear we were interested in both from Blackburn and yourselves, the majority of us would’ve gone for Clarke had we only been able to get one.
Yeah and I think particularly for Clarke, who had been elsewhere and had struggles like at Spurs, QPR, Stoke. He settled here, thrived and was the main man. It always come across in his interviews how much he genuinely loved playing for us. He'll do well to find another club where he has it all fall into place quite like it did here. But I hope he does.I think Clarke made the wrong decision for his career to go to Ipswich, but I'm sure the money was attractive.

Does he always play more central? Seems odd that you signed him only to not play him where he is strongestWhat I’d say on it as a Towen season ticket holder and one who’s done half of our aways this season, he’s looked low on confidence since we signed him. Isidor is quality when we use him like we are at the minute. Playing facing goal he’s as good as anything in the division. Roberts is good. I get people look at his stats for goals and assists but he’s done alright on the assists and although he may not get the actual assist his goal involvement must be pretty high. We aren’t far away. A striker who can play with his back to goal would give us a different optionGenuinely a quality rw and striker and we get promoted I think

Totally agree with your comments mate. He has looked way off the mark. Unfortunately some people need to be closer to home to perform , Clark is lived quite close and had really settled into the area. He was only an hour's drive from his parents. Again, unfortunately , his agent who was pushing for a move won out seemingly to the detriment of Clarkie.. Grass and greener spring to mind as a caution. What I’d say on it as a Towen season ticket holder and one who’s done half of our aways this season, he’s looked low on confidence since we signed him.
