Test Series :: Australia v India

India got what they deserved with their team selection. Should never have dropped Gill to keep the out of form Sharma and it was odd to go with 3 all rounders, 2 of them being spinners
Think England will be blown away by this Aussie pace attack next year in Australian conditions.
Only chance England will have is if Starc and Hazlewood pick up injuries

Have to admit, bit of dark arts at work by me there cause I had money on the Saffers
Who’s tuned in?

23:09 start tonight - how very cricket.

Talk that India are behind the over rate and could be docked WTC points, which given their quest for the final could be huge. May need to win this game to keep their destiny in their own hands.
Is the WTC

Is the WTC final a glorified version of the Durham League & NTCL League playoff game for promotion to the Promised Land 🤔

Add another year into the legs of Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood - it's a big ask at Starc and Hazlewoods age to stay fit for all 5 tests, plus our batters are never going to just let them bowl at them...
Dont get me wrong Aussies will be favourites but let's see what the teams look like come the 1st test

Won’t happen but India need to leave out Rohit and Kohli for the final test.

Is there any scenario where the other team in the WTC final isn’t Australia or India?

They will be a year older and England could smash and grab the first 3 and then get stuffed the last two when the Aussies realise what's happened

Same old Aussies, always cheating, don't use the snickometer if it doesn't show a sound but yes a deflection... then use the snickometer when it shows a noise but not a deflection

Kohli’s Test average is now down to nearly 46. Very good obviously but it hardly shouts “all time great” does it?
Below KP, only slightly above Cook's average - both are better test players imo
He is a ‘all time great’ if you look across all 3 formats and base it of that no doubt about it
Greatest 1 day batter let's make no mistake about that, good captain (even if I didn't like him)

Some players are marked 'down' in some peoples eyes because of how big pricks they are. Kohli, KP maybe Vaughan instantly come to mind. Not saying it's right. Just an observation.
It's all subjective..while you can't knock VK's odi record and is regarded as an odi great his test stats aren't great and his attitude knocks him down even further in my eyes..he's going to cause so much trouble down the line when these young Indians grow up after watching him behave like a twat on the pitch for years. Cricket is not football, it's firm but fair like New Zealand

Absolutely could not agree more.

Kholi comes across a knob on the field no doubt about it.

But in the modern era of three formats and looking objectively across them three formats.

Since the cricket world has seen all 3 taken seriously by all countries Kholi is the greatest batsman in the world.

I have said it before and will say it again it takes great skill and adaptability to move from one format to another and nobody in this era has done it better than him.

Tonight 11.30 pm GMT sees the start of the 5th and final test at the SCG , The baggy caps hold a 2-1 lead and a series win I believe puts them into the WTC final v South Africa 🤔 No doubt the more interested posters will supply team information etc and betting odds .

He's the third/fourth best Indian red ball batsman of all time.

He's the best white ball batsman ever. He may well end up second on the list for most international career runs.

ATG is normally what gets you into the best XI your country has ever produced which nobody would argue he's not in.

At test level he's had a similar albeit worse decline to Ponting. Ponting averaged 57 at the end of 2008 and end up dropping to 51 by the time he retired, Kohli was up at 55 end of 2019 and now at 47.

The last 4 years have been some of the hardest to bat years in the history of test cricket too. You stick the fab 4 of Root,Kane,Smith and Kohli on 00's pitches and they'd have been ever better than they are in this era.

To finish Kohli is an absolute helmet so I have certainly enjoyed his fall off, doesn't take away what a player he was up to 2019 in tests!

Beau Webster in for his debut over Marsh.

He’s 31, but has been tearing up Sheffield Shield cricket for a while, so clearly Australia have gone back to the old fashioned method of picking blokes who perform in domestic cricket.

Rohit Sharma should probably do the honourable thing an step aside, yesterdays interview with Gambhir was especially difficult, but I think the decision has probably already been taken out of Sharma’s hands.

Cowards. Should be picking an 18 year old with 3 domestic T20 matches under his belt (2 rained off but he looked great in the warm up)

No mention of a call up for Jim Allenby or Will Bosito 🤔
