Boro thread

If they’ve got high XG numbers and not achieving them, doesn’t that mean their attacking players are wasteful?
It can mean a lot of things - but it certainly points to that. XG is useful as an overview and a guide, but that's all it should be used for.

Taking solace in XG figures, when results on the pitch aren't going your way is glossing over structural or technical deficiencies in the squad Imo.

Well they're looking on the bright side with this comment. Obviously their focus is on comparing what Sunderland did against Plymouth:

"Ah well a point it is.

Being one of those god awful Boro fans that’s always trying to turn those frowns upside down there are some positives to take.

A point at Plymouth is better than the magnificent and mighty (according to some on here) Sunderland managed.. who also conceded 3 goals here, but only managed 2 in return!

It’s a long old season so strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride "

Makes Sunderlands season a write off and you have to wonder what's the point when we only manage to score two against Plymouth and Boro can manage 3. Makes that 8 point gap between them completely irrelevant

Bless, getting all excited because you're ahead of a local rival for a change.

Long way to go and if we both finish in the play-offs it really won't matter who finishes above who.

Bless ya Steve man

Least you scored one more against Plymouth than we did though, well done. That seems to be a point a few of your posters are making.
." Just a reminder that Sunderland LOST here against Plymouth not so long ago"

Think it's a daft comparison personally. You're above us in the table because you've accumulated more points so far and fair play. Still think it won't count for much though if we both finish in the play-offs, which is a big possibility.

Of course it's a stupid comparison. But it's mental some of your fans are using it as a measuring stick tbh. Yous are extremely weak defensively and it's why you's will be nowhere near challenging for top two this season.

Yous should remain in the play offs, but it's going to be a close one.

Our defensive midfielder Morris has been a huge miss for us. Howson is pretty much finished now sadly. Getting Morris back will be huge boost.

Signing a LB will be a priority for us in January as Borges isn't really up to scratch.

Worked with loads over the years absolute bellends, used to travel up to Aberdeen quite often and train be full of 40 too 50 year old Teeside Steves all dressed in the latest tracksuits and their cans of carling, telling the whole train their life story absolute wallopers.
