Saba Maison Luxe tonight for a curry before the Coldplay Candlelight show at the Minster. Maybe a drink somewhere beforehand if we get finished from the meal with time. Not sure some in our group would appreciate The Rabbit mind so might have to be the Engine Room or somewhere like that.

Fire Station was rammed last night, mainly due to the Fleetwood Mac show but plenty eating too, good atmosphere. Their “festive teepee” is a bit poor tho.
Keel Tavern had a good crowd in last night, which was good to see.

Cheers mate. First time there so will see how it is. We usually opt for Mumbai Silk if in Sunderland but with being at the Minster after we fancied being nearer.

I actually quite liked their festive outdoor tent stuff when we went before the Only Fools show, was a good atmosphere. Aye if we do have time for a drink I might suggest the Keel Tavern actually, a couple of the group haven’t seen Keel Square or the new places round there yet so would be good to show them (they aren’t from Sunderland).

Good idea Peacock worth a dodge in too.

Carnage in St Mary's car park this afternoon. Felt heartily sorry for the poor council worker helping people with the new payment machines. 🤣🤣

Just back home. Very good night. Saba was excellent, was a bit quiet at first even though there was actually a few in, but with it being so big it felt quiet. Really filled up by 8ish. Food was class but the service was even better. Me dad has an intolerance to a couple of things that are common in curries and it was like he had his own personal chef, the staff bent over backwards to accommodate him and were back and forth looking after him and speaking with the chef to see what they could do. Really impressive.

The show at the Minster was good as well. What a cracking building that is. Surprisingly big inside as well, was a good crowd in and mostly full. A thoroughly enjoyable night.

Bring on town again tomorrow for the match.

Cheers mate we all did. Me dad was genuinely very touched by the attentiveness of the staff in Saba looking after him. One of the manager or supervisor types even went over to talk to him before we left just to make sure he found everything okay and had a chat with him while he waited for a couple of us to get back from the toilet. It’s a lovely restaurant inside, hope it does well.

We never made it anywhere for a drink because we just took our time in Saba and it turned out they had a bar in the Minster so we we were able to get a drink in there and take it to our seats. The string quartet were fantastic, all seemed young uns as well. Will definitely go to another one of these Candlelight events.

How did you find out about the Minster concerts? Feverup.com is the only website I can see.

Ta.

It was me wife that saw it pop up either as an ad or suggested content for her on either Facebook or Instagram, she can’t remember which. Was only last Friday night when we were sat in the house as well so quite short notice. I think it was a post about the Candlelight concerts though rather than being Minster specific, if that makes sense. We’d booked tickets last year for a Beatles one at St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle but ended up not making it due to illness at the time, so that could be why social media is suggesting it for her.

Think we only paid £19 but there was more expensive seats presumably nearer the front whereas we were near the back.

It doesn't seem to be well advertised. Same with the concerts at 1719.

I don’t even know what 1719 is so you could have a point there . Tbh I’m not really a gig person as such so never really go looking for info about them, even though I always enjoy them when I go. Most of my favourite bands are either dead or ancient though. I should probably look out for more tribute band type stuff though and things like last night, always a canny night out.

Old Revolution is Streetbar sports bar. Where Saba is was the Lambton Worm Wetherspoons, and then Victors for a few years.
