New Zealand v England 3rd test Hamilton

Where? Only questioning I've seen of these two was in their original selection which was pretty universal and justifiable.
Yeah think we all agreed Bethell looked a bad pick in the first place
Actively wanted us to get beat when we played Ireland as well yet supposedly supports England
Yeah I don’t understand that particular posters constant scarcism and little digs where it be against the captain or selection or golf I could go on, at a side that is England (his own country)

There's a real dearth of openers in world cricket. I'd disagree with @Voice of fair play I'd go Jaiswal/Duckett as the best two.

Stats back that view too, two best averages.
Edit probably should have done a 2 full years as excluded Khawaja Pakistan series.

But Duckett is the best performing opener aside from Jaiswal since he came back into test cricket. Which was the point.

There is no doubt in my mind Duckett gets more criticism at times than other previous traditional openers because at times he gets out to more risky and tame dismissals.

There is fans out there that accept battling 20s and 30s as long as the dismissal not an aggressive risky shot, but at the same critcise more somebody getting 60s or 70s but getting out to a perceived risky shot.

The way Duckett plays and is encouraged to do so by the coaching set up is the main reason why as you say he currently one of the best openers in the world.

Under a different set up that simply would not have happened he would either not have been picked or if picked told to temper his approach and been less successful because of it.

60 Test innings. 4 hundreds.

He's done well and I'm not saying to replace him, but to claim he's the best in the world is just mental.

But who else you picking in World Cricket. You should be crying about the lack of options worldwide that Duckett is in the best XI as opener in Test Cricket by default.

Here's how he stacks up against England openers over the last 20 years minimum of 2 knocks sorted via average. He's had 56 not 60 innings as an opener.

You'd have stuck with Burns if you'd had your way!

Guess when you make statements like that, then surely you have to provide openers in the world who are better???

Totally get the point in years gone by better openers than him, but at this current time are there many better openers in the world?

I would no

Looking at the recent Lions squad,it would appear that McKinney and McCann are the next cabs off the rank as England test batsmen, both have only played a handful of 1st class games.

Along with Rew and Shaikh. Worth adding that although Cox isn’t in the squad, he’s probably the next in line.
