New Zealand v England 3rd test Hamilton

Ah fair enough. I’m sure someone on Wisden said he’d opened the batting for Surrey before and made a hundred. Perhaps @TheRey knows?
Not that I can think of mate. As has been said our openers are penned in as Burns and Sibley, and if one of them is unavailable, then Ryan Patel moves up to open.

Unless he's done it in a game to set up a declaration or something and I just can't recall it

We have to wait until May next year now for the next test which is a one-off against Zimbabwe.

It will be interesting to see if we do a bit of experimenting with the line up in this test.

I'd hazard a guess at a near enough full strength side, with them not having played for a few months and with India to come.
They'll disrespect Zimbabwe and pull some zany shit. My bet: Expect Atkinson and Brook to open as "pinch hitters" in Test cricket. Zafar Ansari to be plucked out of retirement for a laugh. That lanky left armer who went on tour and Darren Stevens to open the bowling

Imo you cant just let Crawley be a nailed on opener regardless of scores.Let's say he has a shit summer against India so he goes into the Ashes and is eaten alive by the aussie quicks in tough conditions. The alternative is to give him a a couple of tests and let someone else have a go.We've seen what happens time and time again down under when you start an ashes series with a new opening pair.

The zany selections to show how "different" they are? I agree, I'm over it now.
Nothing says I’m over it like repeating the same crap again and again.
You come over as an unhinged lunatic. Just roam round the board getting in spats and acting the bellend
Agreed, he should try doing something less annoying.

Like defending referees at all costs. ;)

It’s weird really this regime gets players particularly new players performing above their domestic performances like Carse and Bethell, not only are they not praised for it they actually yet get criticized for it from some quarters??

Where? Only questioning I've seen of these two was in their original selection which was pretty universal and justifiable.
