New Zealand v England 3rd test Hamilton

Series won, dead rubber lost.
Won't be the first or the last team to drop off when they have an unassailable lead.

Pretty much the only tests england ever won in the ashes between 1989-2005 were when the aussies had already won the series.

How long do we realistically think Stokes has left in test cricket? He’s 34 in the summer and his body is seemingly always ravaged by injuries. Apparently his averages with bat and ball over the past two years are 33 and 38 so he’s not exactly contributing massively outside of his captaincy.

I wonder if a drubbing down under next year would see him retire if his body can’t handle test match cricket anymore.

Giving Harry Brook the second new ball probably sums up this England performance
Better than Root having Wood bowl in the Ashes when Australia were setting up a declaration.

Do you reckon privately Mccullum is having a go at the lads? Because the whole team ethos has been about putting pressure on the opposition and playing the situation, yet with only 6 overs to play out Duckett gets out with a hack.

Crawley finishes the series with the lowest average for an England opener of all time to have played 6 innings or more.

Hope Bethell, Root and Brook all get big scores and take it to day 5, but expecting it to be over before 1am tonight.

Think it depends on how the Ashes goes, Kallis pretty much stopped bowling in the last few years of his career, can see Stokes finishing with bowling in the next year, then it's about his batting (33 won't cut it, but if he gets back to 40+)
Stokes can rest for winter and spring anyway
...
That's his t20 stint and champions trophy out the window. Probably stay retired from ODI
