Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Le Briss mentioned he’s not keen on moving Wilson onto the left which leaves us with no dedicated LW options. Watson has been playing in u21’s and moved into first team because of losing Clarke and mundle’s injury. So you thought we’d go through without the potential for an injury to mundle who wasn’t playing first team football week in week out until Clarke was sold? I’d say that was naive. We brought Connolly in on a free and it was put out to the press we’d bid for cannon when we just won’t compete when paying for a CF
Watson was in the first team squad and has been for a while, Mundle was coming on as a sub. We couldn't play all three left wing at the same time. This is not about the centre forward. You obviously aren't happy with our recruitment, but left wing is one area you have no grounds for moaning. We have bought two good left wingers, Clarke and Mundles, and one through our academy. Spot on. We can't have two spare players for every position.
Agreed. We started the season with Clarke, mundle and Watson in the squad which is mad to think now. We didn't know how good 2 of them were, but I'm sure the club had an idea that when Clarke went, we had adequate back up and had more important positions to strengthen. Plus Wilson who can also play there.
this exactly

Every time I watch it back, I have no idea what Rigg was thinking.

If you’re going to get ahead of Watson and take the ball away, have a shot! Don’t just back heel it into the area.

I am entitled to my opinion. Many have liked my post so I am clearly not the only one with this opinion. It depends on the aim. I am simply pointing out that you can't expect to challenge for autos in the long run. The squad simply isn't strong enough compared to Leeds, Sheff United etc. If anyone is happy with the backup options as it is then they can't expect autos. Not that many will have expected that anyway. You'd have to go the same way as Ipswich and be able to thow on a new set of forwards to get goals in the last 10. We don't have that option.

you are trying to divert the thread away from Watson and our left wing. Is it your opinion that we should have bought yet another dedicated left winger? Because of its not, you have nothing to moan about in that area. If all our players were uninjured, we could change the whole team, unfortunately, we have picked up injuries, nobodies fault.

Is it nobodies fault that once again we have a string of injuries? Why do we have an injury crisis EVERY season?

Well, that's a mother question. It depends if we attract the same type of injury. Mind, I can't remember which opponent it was recently, but one of their supporters said that they had nine first team players injured, so we may not be alone in that. Watson's was an impact caused problem, Proveda, hamstring, which tends to happen with a sudden burst of pace. Some players are prone to them.

There might be cause to review injuries frequency but can’t do much about contact injuries like Watson and Browne. Most clubs probably have a couple out with muscle injuries like hamstring all the time. This season feels more unlucky because they’ve been in specific areas- namely left wing and central midfield.

Two exprienced left wingers would'nt hurt. It's not ideal to fit players into positions they don't usually play in.
Two experienced left wingers in addition to the two left wingers that we already have? 4 right wingers as well? Are you suggesting we have 4 players for every position all good enough for championship level?

We signed some already injured, the rest are hidden in etc etc Europe, homesick, cannot speak the lingo, getting used to our food etc etc .I agree with ya LW opinion but we havnt got a squad really .

The mother of all questions

Mayenda on the left wing is grim like, appears to be what Le Bris wants to do though. He's a striker and little else. Has next to no technical attributes so his main positive is his energy and ability to push a defence back from higher positions. Alright if you stick him wide right every now and then late on for some directness and physicality when we need it.

But left wing? What's he gonna do there? Can't cut inside because he has no right foot and very limited technical ability so solely relying on him every now and then getting to the byline and sticking a cross in hoping he doesn't shank it.

Because players get injured. It happens everywhere but fans focus on their own team a million times more than you do any other side. Same as all fans thinking their team is the one to play when a striker is in a bad run, when the opposition hasn't won all season, thinking the refs hate them, thinking commentators hate them etc etc.

We really don't have that many injuries either, just a thin squad.

It clearly lands for Watson's shot on a better angle, Rigg shouldn't have taken possession

Next to no technical attributes is extremely harsh. He had a lovely first touch more often than not and completely skinned his man several times both in the right and left vs Bristol.
Mundle, Watson and Poveda are injured so that’s 75% of what you’d expect to have on the wings if we have two for each position.
In Midfield missing Samed and Browne is at least 33% of what would be expected in terms of numbers. The squad isn’t that thin, the injuries happen to be in the same positions.
