SOL expansion

Don't disagree but imo we should be having this discussion in 2 years when it's actually needed and there's the Premier League money to pay for it.

Obviously what happens then is different discussion really.
Ok - but any expansion will take two years to build - need to commit now for it to be ready when needed.

Going up as champions will be a great time to announce the stadium expansion, more safe standing for the young uns and convert the whole west stand to hospitality seating with comfy seats for us oldies. Brilliant.

Aye let's extend the stadium so that midweek games look even worse than they are FFS. We shouldn't have even extended to 48k in my opinion.
The corporate boxes are where the money is and we don't have nearly enough at present.

Acknowledging your comment about mid week attendances we should simply build a luxury zeppelin and float it over the halfway line for the biggliest of games.

And we could just take some of the existing seats out to create demand.

This footy business is a piece of p***

If they want to do it on the cheap getting rid of most of the seats in the west stand upper (leaving a few hundred posh seats for the falafel and quinoa brigade) and putting in a massive bank of corporate boxes would be the way to go!not my preferred option as i don't have a fear of empty seats but its the most logical solution as it would reduce the capacity so it would be full for every game (keeping the empty seat numpties happy)to my mind it would destroy the aesthetics of the sol but would make money and thats all they care for!One thing for sure a full ground increases demand and prices will go up accordingly so be careful what you wish for!

Better facilities, better hospitality yes.

More empty seats no.
This

Even if we start selling out regularly, the club can then put in place initiatives to sell on tickets when people can’t attend so the ground is always full, it’s currently too big for us given our average and if we got to prem you would prob add another 5/6k to that average so it will be fine as it is.

The amazing spaces guy referenced on a podcast that the reason we missed out on Taylor Swift coming to town was the corporate parts of the stadium.

It can’t be any coincidence that since Liverpool pumped big money into their posh seats they have started to get all the gigs

Could just close the north stand upper and that would leave us with 42k, more than enough for the time being.
Tad small mindset that like!why do you fear empty seats?are you worried about the reputation of our fans?i really don't get it if im being honest ...i would build a stadium that fits the ebb and flow of support and can cater for sporadic larger attendances such as concerts and cups and bugger the empty seat brigade .....I can see the sense of not spending to increase the footballing capacity alone if the fans are not there but if it makes sense to increase the corporate standard of the facilities to attract concerts and they want 60.000 capacity or whatever well if it makes financial sense do it and if it doesn't ,don't!We need to eek every penny of revenue out of the sol ,making it a multipurpose venue and we may have to spend to do it!One thing is for sure our owners are cold hearted businesmen and they will do what makes financial sense to them and nothing more!

Class. We’ve went from extending the stadium to “taking the top tier off”.

Even the suggestion of closing a tier is a daft one, based solely on the fact we’ve just re-opened it.

Let’s not worry too much about these midweek games in winter & matches during storms. 6 of the first 7 matches had over 40,000 tickets sold. The one that didn’t was midweek.

I'm sure we were averaging over 40,000 up until last week.

A couple of lower crowds for obvious reasons and some want to close parts of the Stadium already.

So 49,000 then? Since we've sold it out about 3 times in the past decade.

Building a larger stadium for 2 concerts a year is absolutely crazy talk. From any financial point of view, you'd be better losing the 2 concerts as it's never going to pay for it.

Capacity never 49000 at any point.... i suggested if it made financial sense they would do it and not until then..so if your right they never will!My argument is that if they are going to spend millions on improving the corporate facilities anyway hoying a few more seats in would make financial sense ( small % of overall build)as it would make the stadium more attractive to promoters... now may i ask if it made financial sense to the accountants and long term business plan to say add load of boxes and increase the capacity to 55,000 would you be against that just because we might not fill it ?What is your fear of empty seats?..i wouldn't worry anyway they will never spend in that sort of progressive way unless of course they use some of the promotion to the prem money!
