Support our City Centre - Sunderland

Came down for a session around town on Friday stopping at the Hilton, £76 for bed and breakfast for me and the missus (no) great value.

Bridge Hotel, 3 Stories, Keel Tavern, Peacock, then Ember and a couple in the bar at Sheepdolds.

All very good and we are saving up for a repeat in early 2025.

Never been colder or wetter at football in the 60 years I have been going, though seeing Tommy getting his first goals was worth it.
10/10 all round.

Cracking positive post.

👍

Oh it’s a shit load more than a bit crap marra.
They’ve been open a couple of weeks I reckon and I bet half of their punters atm are new to the place and they’re shutting at 8. I highly doubt the council licensing laws insist on it. It’s a decision made by someone high up in the organisation. Even if they’ve a solid reason for it then being a young business you’d pull a pint and a half when there’s 15 or so punters in there already drinking.
Bunch of kids playing at running a pub is my verdict. Tell me I’m wrong someone. I dare you to even try.
They're advertising for a bar manager at the moment . Maybe they look at Sunday as an afternoon session . Trial and error . They are brewers primarily and slowly joining the pub game

Any chance of a bit of elaboration?
Its opened to rave reviews ,I've been in
I knew its opening times
You've turned up as they're closing and I get your point but I've got the shutters down on my business bang on closing
I've done my shift
You aren't happy .. that's doesn't mean they can't run a business. Could you go from a unused building to opening a bar ?
Just wish SAFC had a presence in the city centre.
A shop ? Why ?
There's a fab big store at the sol
I never go shopping in town, many don't now unfortunately . I honestly don't think they'll miss much trade

First time in both Bridge hotel and 3 Stories today. Good for City, as are any new pub options.

Both said they were “card only”

Had card but happened, for once to have a bit of cash I would have preferred to use.
Beer decent in Bridge but dead, 3 Stories busy but ale option pretty poor( for me)

Dun Cow better by far.

I think it would do well this time of the year.

Travelled nigh on 300 miles to support the new projects of the City Centre yesterday and today.
Stables yesterday and today 8/10.
3 Stories today 8/10.
Bridge Hotel today 0/10. “I’m sorry but we close at 8 o’clock, we’re just pouring ourselves an after work drink”. Walked in at 8PM to be greeted by that very sentence. There was about 15 or so people in there already served, seated and drinking ffs. Bill Gates, Tom Cowie, Mike Ashley, Steve Jobs etc, listen and learn cos THATS how you grow a business.
Got greeted in the Peacock with almost the same response on a Sunday a few months back, except they said they closed at 7.45! Weird but hasn’t stopped me going back.
