*~*~* Sunderland v West Brom match thread *~*~*

Not sure I agree with this. They threw everything infront of the ball. We had has 2 shots on target but must be 8 blocks made by them they were everywhere

But how many of them were just blasts from outside the box.

We don't get the ball across the 6 yard box very often. Or POMO as a previous manager would say.

Honestly I’m confused have I watched a different Sunderland to a lot of people on this forum all my life? People all of a sudden seeming so entitled and expectant of playing like Barcelona.

I’m not saying this season is the most unbelievable in terms of performances but the reaction about what is a solid team getting solid results is apparently now happy clapping.

Has someone / anyone said that?

Is it unreasonable to say a performance lacked quality?

West Brom got the 0-0 they came for. Rigg played well. Jobe was quiet, Neil had good moments then got caught in possession and underhit a few passes . Watson had a lot of the ball but showed his inexperience repeatedly cutting in and shooting at a wall of players.

Sheffield United will be tough but will play to win so we might get a bit more space. Would put Luke back in next to Mepham because he breaks the lines and starts a lot of our best attacks. Could do with Cirkin back.

I think we all hoped today would be different with a few players back. It was still round pegs in square holes in some position today and I think more questions will be asked than answered.

We need Cirkin back. Keep in touch until January and then we need to buy a striker.
A right winger for me. I’d be seeing how much Plymouth would take for Whittaker

Both wingers cutting in and the left back tonight. No coincidence that the most threatening we looked was O’Nien getting past his man and putting it in and then Mayenda cutting it in for Rigg.

We could do with mixing it up a bit when the inverted winger stuff becomes easy to play against

Rare game with no cards
1 of the only positives to come out of it.

We have basically bossed a game against a side that came for a goalless draw. They are the goalless draw experts.

17 shots to 2, 13 corners to 2 tells you what the game was like. It was disappointing we easily won 2 headers from corners and didn't keep the ball alive or even pick out a man.

We did look by far the better side but a point is a poor reward for our dominance but a lack of killer instinct where it mattered.

It wasn't a bad performance but we lacking that bit spark we had earlier in the season.

Think we have to look at our wingers in January.
I think Watson could do with loan to get regular gametime (unless he finds his feet a bit more) and as much as I love Roberts we need to see a bigger return in front of goal.
