The Pep myth

Dealing with all those high priced players and their egos is a skill all of its own.

He is a coaching genius, though like everyone, there comes a time. lot of city stalwarts getting on a bit...

Anyhow, makes room for us at the top this time next year.

Brian Clough the greatest manager we never had.

“Pass it to someone wearing red and every now and then kick it in the net”

It’s that simple.
It's that simple.

But football moves on. It evolves.

Brian Clough with his simple approach, his last season in football was his team relegated at the bottom of the league.

The Athletic linked him with the Brazil job on Friday-

"Well-placed sources — who, like all featured in this article, will remain anonymous to protect relationships — have indicated that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is making a major play to bring Guardiola on board, calling the Catalan on several occasions this year."

If it was that simple then Clough wouldn't have failed at Leeds.
If you really knew Brian Clough, you’d understand what he was getting at. He was both a brilliant man and manager. Just look at many of his signings of players he took off the scrap heap, turning their lives and footballing careers around.

In essence football is as simple as he suggests except for all the things that interfere with it.

(At the time) I didn't think Cloughy give a shit whether he lasted a week or a decade at Leeds. He knew it wasn't going to last with the Board that he was joining. Probably factored in his payout if it wasn't going to last.
Set him up in business didnt it?
Do the family still have the sub POs? Nigel’s nivver seen the need to chase money and I’ve always wondered if that’s why?

Clough was sabotaged by the players. And a duplicitous management board.

There were an odious team.

And you wouldn't be sabotaged by the players with your (presumably) zero qualifications and zero experience? Even though Brian Clough was?

How would you handle the fans who would be in immediate uproar if you were appointed? How would you handle the player reaction when they started laughing at your first tactical briefing?

I would not want to be a football manager or owner for any amount of money.

I would list the exact reasons why but I would get pelters on here so I’ll leave it there.
