Seen Hamilton in London..tremendous...Matilda is canny anarl.

Saw a few in London and the Empire is comparable to any of their theatres although did see Cinderella in London (nowt to do with Cinderella tbh) and the stage span round which I though was canny

[The King of Um]

Three of my favourite gigs there very contrasting the Dubliners the Boomtown Rats and Morrissey all quality.

Also saw Niall Quinn's doctorate speech there very moving and eloquent.

Same one as Gina McKee, wasn't it? The actual actress looked pained to have to speak not in character, and the footballer did a great no-notes speech.

It is a the jewel in the crown that is Sunderland, and it can very easy sell out every hotel in the city centre when they have the big shows on.
Also it is the only theatre between leeds and edinburgh that can handle the big west end shows.

Something that would be nice to see, would be for the royalty to move to a new facility near to the empire, maybe where new look was and have a proper culture quater.

Carlisle sw Scotland and down to hull and Doncaster

Funnily enough the Geordies never mention west end theatres or olympic sized swimming pools. Just airports.

Fantastic place and the calibre of shows it gets is incredible.

Whatever money was spent “ backstage” to enable these big shows has repaid itself many times over.

The deep stage is the reason we get these shows here. I'm sure it's the deepest outside of London

I'm surprised there's not a market for theatres with luxury seating etc. The crappy old seats really detracts from going. This is every theatre though, not just The Sunderland Empire.

The one that had/has Phantom in New York was even more uncomfortable.

These theatres were built when people were smaller.

Yeah, I know. I would gladly pay more for a nice seat.i thought there would be a market for it.
