Roko Simic - potential signing

Just takes one tackle and we could go unbeaten for the rest of the season too.

Unless you're trying to argue that depth of Connolly, Mayenda, Abdullahi, and Rusyn isn't good enough?

Tbf rusyn isnt good enough for where we are and want to go, a poor mans duncan watmore

Connolly is still a bit off the pace, Mayenda did OK but still a bairn and is coming back from injury, Abdullahi is a couple of weeks away and in all honesty might be a year away from ready as his history makes it impossible to predict he is Champo level ready and Rusyn isn't a CF.

It looks decent depth on paper. We of course haven't seen Abdullahi yet.

But I've seen zero from Rusyn to suggest he could step in and whilst Connolly has pedigree and is just getting fitness he absolutely doesn't give us the outball to stretch sides, nuisance or physical presence Mayenda and Isidor have done this season. Early days but I don't think Connolly suits a lone striker role.

I agree about Rusyn like. Grafter but that’s about it. Never had a proper run like.

For the Connolly bit, what other striker would he play as? Just lone striker is the only role these days. 442 is dead. Unless you mean just behind the striker.

The likes of Emery and De Zerbi often pkay a kind of 4-2-2-2 shape so it's possible Connolly could fit into a modern setup alongside Isidor or Mayenda.

I do think it's something we should consider against teams playing three centre backs. Isidor against Luton for instance had a thankless task and struggled to help us retain possession at times, due to being outnumbered.

It's not really though is it. As said above there are still formations used with twi strikers or roles where you bring a player in to play around another striker- be it two up front or maybe one is a bit withdrawn or is wide off the ball.

Or maybe in possession focused games with maybe slower build up you get players like Connolly who looks busy and is probably sharp in the final third more on the ball and you try to play more intricate around the final third, but we don't really play like that unless sides sit deep and give us lots of the ball.

We are quite structured in possesion and look to stretch sides and counter quickly and directly and Le Bris by using Mayenda and Isidor has added an dimension which was missing last season by playing that way. There's been games where we haven't controlled aspects of the play and yet having that pace and direct threat has won us the game.

So for me Connolly absolutely isn't a like for like without a reasonable change in our approach - not sure he could lead the line and he doesn't seem able to stretch defences in the same way.

I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him to make that judgement at all tbf.

People were saying the same for Wilson.

Mayenda played it well, Wilson has.

How about we give the lad some time on the pitch first?

3 appearances for Kortrijk, no goals. Probably wasn't what we needed - I thought he wasn't what we needed at the time

I also thought Cannon would be class and was gutted he went to Stoke, and he's been shit by all accounts so shows what I know
Cannon has scored 5 goals in 10 games this season, so has done pretty well.

Well, he scored 4 in one match. Which is class, I hope someone scores 4 for us on Saturday. But without his 4 goals, they’d still have won 2-1.

Until last night, it was the only match he scored in. So scoring in two matches out of 10. That stat isn’t as impressive. Hes had one assist.

But the records show he has scored 5 in 10 ?
