Regis le Bris - confirmed

Some media voices already comparing him to a young Arsene Wenger. Early days, no pressure.
I didn’t know until yesterday when it was mentioned on Talkshite but a bit of advice Wenger used to pass onto young managers/head coaches is “It’s your job to sort out the defence, centre midfield and wings. It’s your owner/boards job to sort out upfront”.
My guess is that he was always on the list of potentials but his lack of actual experience as Head Coach, despite his age, counted against him.

Once our main options turned us down we went for the gamble.
KS was mocked on here when he said they’d been watching him. I believe him as anyone who got Lorient to 7thish must know what he’s doing, iirc it’s their second highest ever finish. So it stands to reason he’d have been on our and a lot of other clubs radars.
Of course being relegated next season was all the smbs freshly minted French football experts could see and made sure we all knew about it without attempting to look for the reasons why. IE a third of his first XI were sold, a few went to the AFCON and as a trad yo-yo club the odds against them under those circumstances were slim to none.

Whenever the reasons for the relegation were brought up they laughed them off.

he was definitely on the clubs radar like

I'm not a massive fan of 'I told you so' for positive or negative . I'm all for giving any SAFC manager a chance regardless of initial feeling once they're in. No one expected this level from the team although I reckon most knew this is a talented team

Signings like Mepham and Browne have 100% made a difference alongside the maturing of Jobe , emergence of Rigg as a regular and Cirkin staying fit. Special mention to Isidor and Mayenda as well

Although on paper next 6 look winnable I think any game in this league is toss of a coin ( accumulators show this haha ) - happy to enjoy the show and see what develops. Faith kept always

Are we still relegation fodder there chops?
What did I originally say bumping threads is a bit silly loads of people thought we might struggle this I told you so stuff or being wise after an event is pointless everyone including miserable me are happy we are excellent so far.

Calling us relegation fodder just as the manager is appointed is poor crack. They'd have been all over this board polluting against speakman had he struggled.

A) KLD and Speakman (and the club in general) have shown they can’t be trusted over a period of time
B) Some people prefer a moan rather than to see us do well
C) People haven’t heard of the new coach so it gives them every reason to slag off the club

I actually think we’ll know by mid September what kind of season we’ll have because by then we’ll know if the coach actually is a Yes Man and we’ll know if he’s working with a Top 10 team or a relegation threatened squad.

How about a top 4 side battling for automatic promotion ?
