I used to have a cross lab/collie who would get really stressed at fireworks. It didn't help that I lived in the sort of street where teenagers were setting off fireworks from about a month leading up to Guy Fawkes night. Those of you with dogs that hate fireworks, what do you do to keep them calm.
Coming up to that season!
Just get her recall sorted very early marra.
Then you will just have the happiest little girl.
Off lead, Bobby can do whatever, or go wherever the fuck he wants. He is totally free to just be a Cocker Spaniel. Because I know at first call, or whistle, he is back.
Sort that, and you and her are a match made in heaven mate.
Properly looking forward to the pics as she grows up.
What's her name?
Had many different breeds over the years.
Spaniel wise, I have always had Springers, and they have been lovely. Easy to train, affectionate, well mannered.
Bobs is my first Cocker, and he has totally blown my mind on how good a dog can be.
They really are a special dog.
I'll be over 70 when he goes in another 10 years or so (if he doesn't kill himself first), and it hurts that I may not be able to give another Cocker what they would need exercise wise, so he will be my one and only one. Such a shame. I wish I had had one earlier in my life. ❤
He is just lovely.
Thanks mate. He is spot on. Really coming on with his obedience too.I could never own a Spaniel or a Lab if it had to be on a lead.
Train them early and you get the best of them.
He is just lovely.
Look how far he has come with your love.
Ours lost a toe to a firework when he was on the streets, and has the odd rogue fireworks before which went down like a lead balloon, understandably. Those of you with dogs that hate fireworks, what do you do to keep them calm.

Sheer cruelty on a birthday that, you should be ashamed of yourself
It really is funny how their little brains work sometimes.I used to have a cross lab/collie who would get really stressed at fireworks. It didn't help that I lived in the sort of street where teenagers were setting off fireworks from about a month leading up to Guy Fawkes night.
Then one 5th November night as it was all kicking off, we got some pizza delivered. He was food obsessed, had been a stray and finding any discarded takeaway pizza when out was his favourite thing ever. He sat transfixed watching me and the wife eat. There were dozens of bangs, whizzes etc, he just didn't care anymore. He wanted some pizza and that was the only thing in the world that mattered.
After that day he never bothered about fireworks again. I think something in his head made the connection that fireworks were fine on pizza night so they are fine the rest of the time.
I've had that thought about myself numerous times. It really is funny how their little brains work sometimes.
Halo's slipped.
Oh he’s really not impressed is heI joined his two favourite balls together with a cardboard tube to see if he would do weight lifting, but he didn't like it.

Sorry for your loss marraApologies for bringing bad news to the thread, we had to take our old boy Gerry on his final trip to the vets.
The sad part of owning a dog is that you have to eventually let them go.

Obviously thinking: "if I walk around the house carrying that it's certain I'll get shouted at for bumping stuff, it's a subtle plan to gert me wrong"Oh he’s really not impressed is he![]()
Petplan can be great for settling claims when the vet has submitted the form & the new handling party do theirs.A recommendation for Pet Plan insurance, they’re expensive but have been excellent recently
