CC : Durham v Lancashire

Borthwick edges behind, that’s two freebies we’ve given them already. Two dismissals to balls that should both have been left.

Depends, most balls can be left but you need to score runs, that’s the aim. See what you’re saying

Hoping McKinney gets some more runs to back up that amazing knock
Killeen, Glover, Bushnell and Mcadlindon bowling today for th 2nd xi. I think all 4 will be a little miffed to see Holder in the first team

Agreed. One of those 3 local lads should be playing. Probs Bushnell for me. Lengthen the tail. He’s getting released tho aye?

I saw Killeen score a 100 at Darlington mind

Whenever I’ve seen Bushnell bowl he’s always seemed to me to be more of a fifth seamer option as opposed to a 3/4. Given Holder was thrown the ball as first change I wonder whether the coaches didn’t believe any of the current crop can fit the ‘first change’ role.

It’s easy to criticise with hindsight but I still like the intent the club have showed in bringing in an experienced, international bowler for the last three games. Hopefully he starts showing his talent in the second innings.

Maybe but it’s just a leap from Wagner to Holder for me. Maybe he will get better

They need to sort that boundary out in front of the media centre

Leave it where it is, it’s about two foot shorter than it was yesterday

It’s a leap from Wagner to more or less anyone else in world cricket ;)
Looks a class act and one for the future. Reminded me of the first time I saw Alex Davies up here with Lancashire.

Second mention of the day for Alex Davies, who is now with Warwickshire and has just passed 1,000 FC runs for the year.

Just catching up after busy morning at work.

Lancs tail didn't hang around too long. I see Holder didn't get a bowl today. I wonder if the club has lost faith in him already.

Not a great start for us but we have a strong middle order.

Surprised they haven’t thrown the ball to Aspinwall yet.

Edit: As if by magic, here he is

I didn’t read anything into it, Raine and Potts shared the new ball and did the bulk of the work, De Leede came on and mopped up the last wicket. I expected Holder to replace Raine if Lancashire lasted any longer.

Lees adjudged lbw by Graeme Lloyd to a ball which looked far to high and a little too leggy from my vantage point.

A look on the stream backs up that intial thought.

Gebuinely not at all surprised.

I’ll be the first to admit I’m biased and perhaps I’m seeing what I want to see, but given he turned down the appeal from Raine against Iyer yesterday, his finger was up very very quickly for a decision which had more than a reasonable amount of doubt to it.

Elsewhere, Notts struggling against Essex and have only picked up 2 bowling points.

Worcestershire looking set for their fourth win in a row though.

Yet he didn't give out Iyer for one that wasn't as high or legside as that.

Mental umpiring
