Jack Clarke

100%, it's why the window to renew with Ross Stewart was closed the second he scored a couple of championship goals, let alone when his stats became a missive outlier for this division.

The second someone appears to have the ability or even potential to play In the premiership, the player has a massive decision, it's not doubling wages, it's entirely life-changing and a short career. This to me suggests how incredibly well they have done to renew the likes of Cirkin, Ballard, Rigg and Jobe although I imagine the last 3 at least have plenty of clauses.
This, makes me laugh how some think turning that money down is even really an option.

Not for me Safck. Mind I think he will be one of those where he is a brilliant championship player and just not good enough for the PL
Why would he not be good enough?
He’s class and will one of Ipswich’s best players. He’s 23 or summit and hasn’t had a chance in prem, there’s no reason he wouldn’t be good enough

6 months with McKenna and not only will Clarke be good enough for the PL, he will be one of the best players in that left sided role in the league.

I’m in Zante and was talking to a lad from
York who knows Clarke and he’s family and he insisted he was about to sign for Celtic. Says he loves it at Sunderland (which we know and wasn’t keen on Ipswich) probably all
On Hart if his move goes tits up (except the money of course)

he was of course signed by a premier league club in the past and deemed not good enough to get a game exceopt in cup compeitions...several players of his gae went on to play in the prem for that club for many years..

At 19/20 at a team going for top 4

Who are the several players btw?
He was younger than Amad is now
oliver skipp is the same age as jack clarke and was there at the same time...77 first team league appearances but i think has been sold now to a premier league club..

If you listen to speakman, Clarke wanted to pay in the top division .

If you rip this apart this isn't really true.

Statistically Ipswich are odds in to go down.
He will have had a significant wage rise.

All fair play to him, however the odds are stacked against him therefore I'd guess it was for the money. It is very unlikely he will shine at Ipswich (they will be on the back foot mostly) and Ipswich are not an established club in the prem.

Clarke would have been better being with us but I think even we found his worth.

Hope he does well, can't see it.

Absolutely no way you can make that statement at this moment in time.

We’ve played four games, Ipswich could well stay up with Clarke having an impact and we could drop off.

We won’t know if he’s made the right decision until close to the end of the season.

I can entirely see why Clarke decided he had to go now. Last season dismayed most fans and if you are Jack Clarke and you have experienced the relegation form and absolute lack of direction and ambition from the people running the Club it won't have given him confidence that his Premier League ambitions can be achieved with us. The decision will have been made ages ago.

There are puzzles, why only Ipswich appear to have really wanted him and why we sold at that fee rather than keep him for another year.

Clarke is gambling on Ipswich staying up or that he can show his ability at that level so if they do go down he is attractive to other PL teams.

Money is also an issue, there is no getting away from that.

I hope he does well because he has been a pleasure to watch in red and white and I think he is goid enough.

Speakman always controls the narrative about departures and likes to do the "we did all we could but the player...". Very different circumstances but he did it with Pritchard when a bew contract was only offered at the last minute. Players who leave won't waste their energy in a pointless debate with Speakman.

So far we are foing well without Jack Clarke, let us hope that continues.
