Jack Clarke

I think that game against the Mags has swayed a lot of people’s opinions of Clarke. He was poor in that game but so was everyone else and Trippier was excellent. The derby game does not define him however and I see no reason why he can’t be a success in the Premiership.
I think the move was good for all sides as Mundle is now showing what he can do and young Watson , in my opinion , will soon make everyone forget about Clarke .
Our main problem that game was no ST but more importantly no RW with Roberts being out injured too. Was very easy to nullify our only real threat in Clarke by doubling up on him. Still get annoyed by that game as the mags weren't really any good, we just gifted them goals.

It doesn't surprise me.

I think the average wage for very standard prem players now is around 60k.
Can see why so many players and agents are keen to quickly get there with that sort of money being banded about.

At the same time, it shows those in the championship can’t just ‘give the player what they want’.

It’s a mad jump in finances between premier league and championship, and the gap is only getting bigger.

100%, it's why the window to renew with Ross Stewart was closed the second he scored a couple of championship goals, let alone when his stats became a missive outlier for this division.

The second someone appears to have the ability or even potential to play In the premiership, the player has a massive decision, it's not doubling wages, it's entirely life-changing and a short career. This to me suggests how incredibly well they have done to renew the likes of Cirkin, Ballard, Rigg and Jobe although I imagine the last 3 at least have plenty of clauses.

No way. He won’t be on 64k/week there. £35ish is a better guess…

No where near.

I think he'll be on 50-60k no problem. It's not a better guess, it's a terrible one.

Yes, near.
it’s not like.

Catts, Borini and Sess were all in and around 60k, and the finances have shot up a couple of times since.

What was once reserved for our so-called star players is now a very middling figure.

You're wrong. Google it.

There's studies calculating clubs wage bills and it works out players on an average of 60k per week.
The average salary, maybe, not the average player. Trouble is average salary is distorted by the 3 or 4 top earners in any club. After these top players there is a big step down then a steady fall in all of the prem clubs. Pick a player halfway down the pecking order and he won’t be on 60k. It’s distorted by the top players being on huge money.

In a 25 man squad you might typically have 3 or 4 players of 150k +, then a couple of 70k-85k then 20 players on 15-60ish. The majority of prem players are on a lot less than £65k/week

I never once said the average player. I said average salary and you must have misread it.

The point is JC will not be on £60k/week. 40 maybe. The poor love, how will he survive. Hopefully the cap comes in and these rediculous salaries will end and players might move for honours and not money. Wishful thinking maybe.
