This is why I’ll never be comfortable with the model

I can't get over how our fans struggle so much with the idea of selling players like. Stewart, Gooch, Pritchard - even bloody Paddy Mcnair a few years back. Every single time someone goes for a fee there's a complete meltdown.

Is it the same at other clubs? Or was the fact we have been so shit at selling players for a profit for so long means that we struggle to cope more than most?

There isn't a single championship team that won't have sold one of their top players this summer. In fact, I doubt there's more then a handful in the world that won't be losing someone to a bigger team in the next 12 months.

It’s that they won’t be replaced by players of similar standard that annoys every one.

The upfront bit is the only thing to concentrate on now. And after giving Spurs their share, it appears to be about 11-12m. Absolutely scandalous.

It then makes you question just how much progression their is in the model when getting some of these players as cheaply as we have mean we are tied to some quite large sell on fees, which then limits what can be reinvested. I hope we're doing that too.

I mean I'd have probably taken 7m for Ekwah if that meant we could get a centre forward over the line rather than selling Clarke. I like him, but I don't think he's essential right now. But with an alleged 35% sell on fees it doesn't leave a lot to invest and makes sales harder.
It’s like someone went round and put a yellow sticker on Clarke.

Essentially they have. Clearly absolutely bricking getting into a Stewart situation again. Its not the final 'ooops' sticker, its the one where they start putting items near the front and drop 20% off the day before😀

It’s the reality of being in the Championship sadly and why we need to get out asap. We can’t be staying in this division. Do feel we could have got more from Ipswich tho.
Of course we want to get out of this league as soon as possible, but I cant see how it can be done by selling your best players. It is always going to be a struggle, the three relegated clubs have a ridiculous financial advantage, as does Leeds who will still receive a hefty parachute payment. Basically most Championship clubs are battling for a place in the play offs, this season probably 5th and 6th. Dont think with our current squad we are good enough to achieve this, we certainly dont have the strength in depth required for a long season.

It’s a very poor figure tbh.
Coventry manage to make huge sums. Burnley and Leeds have sold pap for much more this summer.

Every time we sell someone in the model we have been told the club is operating?

Granted the proof will be how we spend the money but haway let's get a grip
The "meltdown" as you put it is not because we have sold a player and I think you know that. Just on a wum.

As has been said, no issue with him leaving, massive issue with him going for a shit price.

We’ve had our pants pulled down.

It will get spent as wisely as the stewart money imho. Maybe it’s already been spent on stadium. I’ve no confidence what so ever in our owner ship group. Poorer team year on year.
This is the issue
It's low amount also - but we will see the clubs ambition on what we do now
Selling on deadline day and being unable to get a replacement is one thing. Now at least we can plan. It's a big week coming up

Look at the team from the day that Speakman came in compared to now and tell me we haven't got a better calibre of player in literally every position.

Yes lad!

Forgot future sale was guaranteed as well as all add-ons.

"I know who the striker is but can't say until it's public knowledge"
The add ons have to be pretty much guarenteed or they wouldn’t agree to it 3 mil already is. Jack Clarke will be sold in the future most likely

On the striker thing that wasn’t my info. I wasn’t allowed to post it as someone else on here had told me it and asked me not to. It then hit Croatian press soon after

Give your head a wobble.

I think the player is worth £25m+, but other clubs seemingly disagree.

For those that are adamant we're selling him on the cheap? What's the argument for no other clubs coming in for him at this cut-price deal?

He hasn't played in over 2 years, it was a cracking deal. This is the only credit I will give Speakman.
The only credit ?
So having cirkin , alese , hume , Clarke , Bellingham and roberts in the side last Sunday , some of the best players in their position in the league , all bought by speakman, all young and going to improve, with poveda , browne , ekwah , Ballard on the side line gets him no credit ?
Showing rigg he will be better here and progressing him from when KS came in when rigg was 13, so much rigg signed a contract here rather than went to any number of clubs?
All at a relatively low cost to the club so we are in a great financial position.
Tough crowd
