Jack Clarke

We’ll make 18-20 in the long run from this sale after add ons and sell on. That’s exactly what the club wanted for him and told him they’d accept to not stand in his way for PL football.

Now we get time to spend it. Yes we don’t get it all up front but if you’re aware of an incoming cash flow you can spend in advance.
We have a week to spend it

I’m gutted about this

But

I have a mate who is a villa fan. He saw us play last season and he said it reminded him of when grealish played for them. Only tactic was to get the ball to grealish. He said they became a better team after he left.

I think RLB is a pretty level headed and philosophical guy, and he can think flexibly and get the whole team playing well even without JC.

The reason is because if we can sell players for big fees then we can bring in better players. To me we've sold a bit low here, but if we add some really good attackers using this money and say Mundle and Watson start to look the part, we could be a better team overall.

It's not like these fans are worrying about the Louis-Dreyfus estate, we want the club to spend the money.
Like we did when we sold Stewart and lihadji you mean?

Only way to soften this blow now will be to tie Dan Neil down, get the two strikers through the door (Wilson and Simic) possibly even Mendy as well.

Anything else would be a bonus.

I’m still to be convinced about Mundle but I’m more hopeful about him progressing than I am with Ba, Rusyn, Hemir et al.
RR article highlighting that Wilson played his better games from the left wing and scored more goals from the there is encouraging however I don’t know how that would affect how we play as he doesn’t appear to be a player who’ll work back and do the defensive work.

Well see. A sad day, absolutely gutted about Clarkey moving on but wish him all the best and we have to move on ourselves.

Why are people also quoting other transfer fees for other players at other clubs as if they get 100% of the quoted price and they don’t have sell ons themselves? Most transfers include add ons and don’t rise to the full price.

This is the task that is in front of him.

Won’t stop sales but puts us in the best possible position. If someone wants Jobe next summer we can point to the fact he’s got 3 years on his deal and say pay up. Rather than considering plummeting value after 2 years.
Eh? With 2 years left on the contract? Twaddle.

Yeah with Mundle i try and remind my self how Clarkey was in league 1. Showed glimpses but the team wasn't built around him. Hopefully the lad can take his chance.

Look I'm serving my notice period at the moment before moving to another role, i moved because it was a bigger opportunity and more money. If I was a footballer I'd be thinking exactly the same. People are completely off it if they thought when presented the opportunity to go prove yourself in the PL at a team with a good manager and limited pressure he'd hang around here on the off chance we might get promoted this year, or next, or next...

Now on the other hand, I think it's absolutely f***ing ridiculous that as soon as a player leaves people think that he was agitating for a move. We saw him tracking back to levels we hadn't seen before in RLB's new system. We never saw him refuse to play, or throw his dummy out - even when Doddsy tried his best to ruin the whole team last year.

It;'s perfectly possible for a playerto like it here and, when an opportunity presents itself, want to step up.

Even if we don’t get the 2 slightly less guarenteed add one. 14.25 million plus 15% of his next sale will get us around the 16/17 mark and they wanted to make 17/18 after spurs clause. So it’s an absolutely fine deal

If 15% is right, it’ll be 15% of profit surely? So to get the extra 2-3 million he’d have to sell for £35m+

We have only agreed deals with these Strikers man since we've know Clarkes away. We haven't spent a button this summer yet saying they want top 6.

Once again the ownership have been shown up for exactly what they are.

If he’d have stayed until next summer you’d be lucky to get £10 million for him. 1 year left massively impacts fees
Could have been promoted with him and a few good additions. Fact is we won’t spend a penny until we sell players. Owners won’t use their own money on improving the squad.

Now Clarke has gone are we confident on improving the squad enough to have a crack at promotion?
