Jack Clarke

We wouldn’t get that 25 million are you actually reading anything or trying to cause trouble? If we accepted a 25 million pound offer we’d get 18 million. So we lost 3 mil in the grand scheme of things
The transfer fee is being reported as £15m, and Spurs get 25% of that, so we've lost him for around £11m.

We'll probably spend fuck all, and may sell more before the window shuts knowing us.

This f***ing club man.

Wouldn't blame the manager if he just said "fuck it, I'm off", or any of the players tbh.

I genuinely can't believe that this has happened, and Clarke can get fucked.

I hope he fails miserabley.

It will be interesting to see who we bring in to replace him.

No one probably, though there may be a loan. Mundle was likely signed as his long term replacement. We've also signed Poveda and were talking up Ba on the left last preseason though hopefully thats died a death.

The forwards on the radar will probably be signed Simic, then maybe Wilson Isodor on loan with a view to permanant who is a cf but has played lw in the past, maybe even Mendy.

Nah it won’t, it’s still great money at this level. No one was bidding higher clearly either.
Crazy that everybody keeps going on about the Spurs cut, as if in some way this should have meant his valuation should have been higher.

Rightly or wrongly, we agreed a deal with Spurs which meant that we only ever owned 75% of Clarke and now we've done something similar to Ipswich. It has always been known that this was the case.

Because if you don’t sell now you’ll get well and truly lowballed and mugged off next summer.
So they're terrified of his value dropping like I've been saying for weeks?

Funny how Coventry got top dollar for both their sales with 12 months left.

And your take is? He had a handful of opportunities but decided that this place that changes managers every year was the next step on his career path.

I've already posted on how I see his situation tonight in footballing terms. Can't be arsed to crack on about personalities. Nothing personal but go find someone else to debate your feelings about his reasons to sign up to the job.

Can’t believe this has been agreed. How much did Blackburn get from palace. Would put a real downer on the season if we sell him right at the start for rubbish money.

We spent the Stewart money on Rusyn and Hjelde.

I hope I can be forgiven for having no faith in them reinvesting this money properly.
It’s terrifying mate. A few injuries to key players and we’ll struggle again.

How many times did we say “we’d be fucked if Clarke wasn’t here” last season? He dug us out of the shit so much.

Leeds have sold Rutter. Burnley have sold Berge. Boro had to sell Akpom and Coventry has to sell Gyokeres and O’Hare. This isn’t a Sunderland thing.
Has he made it clear he won’t sign a new deal?
Yes.

Fair play to Ipswich they had a good start last season and backed it up in January. Us the season before on the other hand.
They were looking to replace the manager for getting us 2 games off the prem.
In January they were in a real position to push for automatics. We were hoping to push for playoffs. Different gamble.

They took though and I agree with your sentiment.

People have been sold who are kids for 18m and largely potential from this level. A straight 20m and I'd have said fair enough. A deal which may amount to that looks pretty shoddy and looks like the club have just took it to avoid a Ross Stewart situation next year.

Its not good.
