Chris Rigg

Far too many posts about are best players
" moving on " Clarke, Ballard, Neil, Jobe and now Rigg. Yet, no one has been sold. Today was imo a turning point and the youngsters graduated.

Let’s hope so. I think it’s very early days to make that statement however. For me,the graduation comes when we’re into the thick of the season, knocks are being carried and they’re getting a bit leggy. That’s when they’ll have to pull it out of the bag to say they’ve matured.

Some people are just born, natural footballers. You can build on it through coaching, but you can’t coach the instinct or the latent ability itself.

He’s got it in spades. He will play at the very top of the game, if his head is screwed on right.

Average age of 19 for our midfield 3 today!! All 3 were magnificent with Rigg being the pick of them for me. Have to mention Jobe played more forward passes than I saw the whole of last season, he seems to be taking more chances with his passing now which is good to see.
and all English . Odds on the three to play internationally together in about 3 years ? . A whole Sunderland midfield , what a time that would be to be alive

Huge congratulations to his parents, who have put the long term development of their son's career first, ahead of making a short term decision to get as much cash as possible!

Imagine being stuck in the u23s at a prem club for a couple of years and then probably being sent out on loan......compared to the standing ovation he got when he was subbed.

if Rigg and Bellingham dont end up capped theres something gone seriously amiss

Just for context though, we have just beaten two moderate second tier teams. The step up is quite significant. Based upon this division, you could argue Clarke should be capped. But it’s not this division where caps are earned.

Let’s just enjoy a nice couple of wins without going daft!

It's cliché, but when watching him it always seems like his first instinct is to do something positive, and his reaction time today seemed lightning fast. No concerns about whether his head is screwed on right - he's playing with bags of confidence and far beyond his years
