I think what they’re saying is all the materials for these kind of things come from the same factory in Germany. They’re the biggest and pretty much only place that produces this kind of thing.

They’ll have been inundated with printed banners, pitch flags, all the merchandise for the Olympics etc.

Now I’m not saying that a reason not to have a display because there’s hundreds of items that are already in circulation. They could put the surfer out.

As I say, I suspect it’s to do with the club being arsey but the new group don’t want to lock horns with the club the way we did because look how that ended up

S037 had it spot on but got grief on here off certain posters. Itll never get back to that level.

It wasn’t certain people on here who put them off. They were badly let down by the club unfortunately.

There's plenty of stuff they could use for a display. They could also stick something on twitter before our first home game to make more people aware of them. It doesn't seem very promising so far.

They got everything i think, but they turned some of it into lasses flags too

Do you know this to be the case? I’m not sure that’s what many people who had put money towards the displays had hoped for them to be used for.

SO37 stopped doing it and give all the stock to this new group to use as they pleased which they did for the last few home games for the lasses, and some home games at SOL including the Charlie Hurley banner. They could have probaly done a display today with just the flags but i think they want to do someting bigger for Boro

When they said about the Euro's and Olympics been on it'll be down to shortage of material used for them or company doing them was busy and couldnt do the order in time.

If ppl aren't happy with how the money was spent then ask SO37 the questions, not the new flag team

It's a thankless task. Giving up time pre match every week. Criticism on here off some. Struggling to get enough people to do it most weeks. People in the ground getting arsey as they don't want the surfer going over them or to hold the flag. The club dictating what you can and can't do. I also remember fans taking home some of the smaller flags so you'd lose stuff most weeks.

Fair play to anyone that gives it a go but I can see why the groups have a limited shelf life.

There is enough existing stock to do a display every game, it doesn't need new stuff every time and financially that isn't feasible. Even going back to the massive surfer from the league cup final, plus everything else produced since.

Would go against the bcb decoration agreement. Mags told us they didn’t want anything negative. Banned FTM as well.

I asked you yesterday where has the new group said the statement about not doing a display because of shortage of material, giving stuff away to the lasses team and that they're doing a display for the Boro game? Again can you show us where they've said this because up to now it's just you that's said any of it.

Start of the season coming up!!

Unfortunately we haven’t been able to secure any materials for an opening display due to the euros and olympics taking priority.. however we’re looking to make the SOL pop for our game against boro!!

What sorts of things would you love to see in a display?

Can be anything from a nod to County Durham to a huge miners lamp!

Any ideas are more than welcome and will certainly be considered!!

Sounds petty but a consistent font on whatever flags/banners are made. The ones at the lasses matches i have seen, the font looks like a bairn has drawn it. Looks very poor when the letters are all different sizes.

Sorry if already discussed earlier in the thread but I was told a lot of the flags etc have been ruined as they are stored at the back of the stands/seats and over the summer lots were taken out and not put back inside their water proof bags. The assumption was it was contractors working within the stadium. The flags are held in cages but are unlocked so anyone can pull them out. This Is Wearside were only let back into the stadium recently to discover the extent of the damage.
