Zan Vipotnik (transfer rumour)

Yeah, I think they probably are.

Jobe is just passing through here, and he's mates are making sure he gets plenty of games before heading off. Ballard and others were just kids when we bought them, they wouldn't have been on big contracts and probably still aren't.

They never made Stewart an offer good enough for him to stay, and it looks like it's the same is happening with Clarke.

Clarke is going to a mid-table Premier League club. We haven’t a change of making an offer that would tempt him.

What's fucked up about it?

We were willing to pay a fee for him last summer but he went to Bordeaux. He's now had his contract ripped up and was available on a free, it's not too far of an assumption to think we'd be interested again with us in dire need for a striker and all that.

Why do you think he's chosen a club like Swansea, who already have strikers to compete with, over a club that made their intentions clear last summer thatt he was wanted, and would have immediately walked straight into the main striker role at the club?.....its because they offered him more money.

Or maybe he's a Swansea fan.
Or maybe he’s seeing a lass from Swansea, or maybe his agent is a mag, or maybe he wants to sample lava cake, or maybe he’s just picked them cos they’ve got a midfield that compliments his style. There’s literally hundreds of reasons, and we know the square root of fuck all about the validity of any of them. Wages may well be the issue, but it certainly isn’t the published one, my point however is, you start off by saying well we may have been in for him, again we haven’t a clue, and then say oh and he didn’t come cos we can’t compete with their wages. You, just like me, know nowt about it, unless it’s the obvious, ie we need strikers, and they’re failing if they don’t get them. That’s criticism enough, without making shit up about how shit our owners not putting their hands in their pockets etc imho.

This is correct

At the same time we are still not learning.

Last season was full of negatives and not many positives. We seen in our first season with Simms, Stewart and Amad what creativity and goals do and we made the play offs.

Last summer it should have happened.. it didn’t

Jan it should have.. it still didn’t

And now!! Its so important to bring in not one but at least two who can add the goals and change our dymnamic.. but still we are waiting.

Sometimes risks are needed and if it meant spending money on players who would guarantee this, it would have been worthwhile.

Once again though we’re going to fuck it up and have a bang average season.

With the speed safc operate you get the feeling they had pencilled in a preliminary meeting to discuss the possibility of signing this lad 2 weeks from now. ;)
Hopefully he turns out to be shit .

If our scouting/data teams history of picking strikers is anything to go by, you'd have to say that seems highly likely.

I said it was a reasonable assumption that we would have been interested in a striker (which we're desperate for) that we were going to pay a fee for last season, who became available for free this summer....you know what an assumption is yes??

Probably a good 90% of football decisions come down to money. Again it's a reasonable to assume that he's went to a club where he'll have to fight it out with strikers who are already there over a club where he'd basically walk straight into the starting 11 because they gave him a better deal. Its hardly rocket science.

It looks pretty clear (to me anyway) that money is our biggest issue. Other clubs have brought in what they've needed, in less time, and without any problems. We've been chasing Mendy for a month and the player even seems to want to come. Their owner/president at the time said they valued him around 4/5m, but accepted that they'd have to take a little less....we apparently offered 700k!! 😆😆

Your probably right, a lot of these lads who are happy at the club will have to move on if they want to play in the Premiership. They'll not achieve that target here.

Even if we were expected to challenge, why stay?

How many workers don’t prefer trebling their wages and going to a currently more successful company, just because their current one is doing ok?

Because (in Clarkes case) he's already been at Spurs and made a big money move to Leeds, which didn't work out. He's already seen both sides of the coin.

He's already said he's happy here, which suggests if the club could had similar ambitions to his own (Premership) then he'd be happy to stay. Promotion would give the club more money and (in theory) Jack could get the rise in wages that would keep him here, where he's happy. If he solely thought about money, he would have made the push to join Burnley last season.

Instead, the club haven't offered him a decent enough offer to consider, and we're a way off promotion candidates, so I guess we're making it easy for him to look elsewhere.

Can you stop calling it the Premiership please, it’s doing my head in.

It hasn’t been called that for 20 years.

Hopefully we can keep Clarke and win the Endsleigh league this season.

Debut Swansea goal.

Probably could have done a job for us if we were in need of a striker.
I don't think he had the experience to be our only incoming striker but would have been a canny addition if had Mendy too but I didn't expect the Mendy thing to be still dragging on.

I agree mate but why would we not be in for him anyway. Especially as he was "free", we need two, I'd still rather have him that nobody. He's clearly miles better than Mayenda.

He's played over 100 first team games and has 10 international caps, how much experience does a striker really need?
