Expect a shit start.........to the season......

Aye but you need to be able to spot trends when looking at data. And we weren't playing well at the start of the season. Our performance levels had dropped off from the season before. Our results were decent in the autumn, then it started to unravel for Mowbray. Mowbray was finding it tough, make no bones about it. That's not a reflection on him, it was the squad Speakman had left him with. It would be difficult for any manager for a sustained period to get results at championship level without championship strikers.

Now we have a lack of belief and momentum from the damage done last season, an inexperienced manager and no strikers.
We were still 6th in February. We’d not have finished there but the slump was exacerbated by a season going nowhere not being able to finish soon enough. This is a fresh start.

It was....but that slump caused damage to confidence.
It's not just slate wiped clean, everyone just getting on with it.
Don't underestimate what not having strikers does. It's a competitive league and it's a huge handicap.

We've got a proper manager in for a kick off
This, why can't posters realize that the major problem we had the last half of the season was because we didn't have anyone capable of organizing a piss up in a brewery. Its not because we have bad players it's because we lost some of our good players to injury and we had no one to organize the team but people will just say things to suit their agendas

I’d say the fact that there’s a huge portion of our fan base that months ago have already paid half the money for season tickets, the season starts tomorrow and these people still haven’t got a physical season ticket as required is a shit start to the season, let alone what’s happening on the pitch, if it wasn’t for the superb bespoke kits and an upgraded shop, this would be as dire as any bad season we’ve gone into

I was saying if we start badly we shouldn't be calling for the manager to be sacked after five matches. It wouldn't be his fault, it would be player recruitment, i.e. speakman. Anyway hopefully we won't be in that position.
We dont have a manager, we have a first team coach and if things did get desperate enough for the owner, then the whole charrabang would have to go.

Regardless of that, we still don’t have a lot of balance to the squad. No goal scorer and lacking in defensive midfield.

Lack of any decent management was an issue, but with a you g squad running out of steam, we were always going to slump in the last few months.

I’m expecting around 8th place between now and Christmas then finishing 14th.

Hi Lads,

Cardiff fan here.

I'm looking forward to the game, always liked Sunderland and big respect to your fans and the support you give all round d the UK.

I think it will be a close game, you always sem to play well against us. However, we have made some interesting signings:

Chambers from villa, Wilock from QPR, Robertson from Man city etc.

In addition, Ramsey is fully fit and back on form as is Calum Robinson who's been scoring goals for fun in pre season.

Hopefully a game full of goals fron both sides, but with a win to the bluebirds...

Why would you want us to be full of goals

Why has your team been making signings for the first team? That is just weird. Doesn’t everyone else just sign large numbers of bench warmers and hope some come good in a few years?

My heart says a one nil smash and grab, but if you score 2 goals then im certain you will pickup 3 points. Our season is really hard to call as are most sides in this league.

Four responses and nobody has told the new lad to F...

Place is going soft if you ask me.

Injuries are, all bar one , to wider squad members , not those expected to be involved for this match day.
Transfers have raised expectation, with more on way. However, i think tomorrrow will be close but think Cardiff have enough to take the win - especially with you guys without any decent recognised striker - unless Poveda comes good( if he is 100% fit)
As always from you guys an excellent support considering the distance and ko time. Have a safe journey down and back to Sunderland, but for those couple of hours when you are in Cardiff, think it may be a challenging time.

Tomorrow aside, all the very best to you for the coming season. When you play the Swans f**king smash ‘um!

It will be interesting to see how things go. Last season in the last 12+ games, we were beaten by conceding really easy goals and being hopeless the other end unless Clarke was scoring.

Hate to be negative, but it is hard to see what has changed.

I've literally given up hope of a win already after this post. 😄
