Actually, think I will wait till I am in a better mood. Don't think listening to some of the saddest (but most beautiful) songs I have heard is good for me after two weeks off, then back to work in the morning.

The week in rebiew:

Beabadoobee: pretty good, some of it is Pavementy indie rock, some a bit more poppy. Seems to be her move toward the mainstream.
O Sees: some of it quite thrashy, other tracks more melodic. Good but not great.
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard: very good, a definite return to form. Indie/psychrock, good songs.
Fucked Up: very good. Melodic punk as usual. It's not David Comes to Life but few albums are.
Peter Cat Recording Co.: laidback, thoughtful indie pop from India. Really good.
Thee Marloes: excellent, old school soul from Indonesia. Well worth checking out.
Quivers: indie pop/rock, girl/boy vocals, pretty good.
Milton Nascimento & Esperanza Spalding: jazzy duets. Likeable, their voices contrast well.

Album of the week: Thee Marloes shade it.

Enjoyed Quivers. Cloud Cult is decent too

I thought O Sees was better than Gizz personally

I’m still confused by it. I like it. But it sounds nothing like Crack Cloud. I saw them live very early on, it isn’t the same band!
Funnily enough I was just streaming their 2018 compilation and thinking how different it sounds! The new album is like Fat White Family at times, then a 70s punk band at others.

Thee Marloes an excellent shout. Perfect gardening backdrop for me this afternoon

As I'm off to Green Man first thing tomorrow, posting the new releases for Friday a bit early. We have albums from Blind Pilot, Charly Bliss, Falling in Reverse, Foster The People, Hamish Hawk, Matty, Morgan Wade, Pom Poko, Post Malone, Ray LaMontagne, Urban Heat, Chuck Johnson, Wishy, and Hifi Sean & David McAlmont.

I'll probably start my listening on Monday. Looking forward to three or four of them...
