Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Agree

Mayenda certainly has potential, although feel a loan or as a number 3 that will get minutes without the pressure would be best

We should be signing 2 strikers this summer. Can’t believe a few days before the season our options are still only Rusyn, Hemir and Mayenda
If we had 2 experienced strikers nobody would be complaining about the ability of Mayenda or Hemir as they would get so much slack.

Personally think they, especially Mayenda are decent, in fact good, for their age and will develop to be canny players (Mayenda more than Hemir probably) but it’s the fact that they are the ONLY options.

My gripe isn’t with having them in the squad, it’s with having them as our only options in the squad.

The comments from Dodds that Jobe could become a striker might be coming true at this rate
given the premium you have to pay for a half decent English striker, and the fact he got 7 goals last season, I could see them wanting to push him up front to maximize the eventual fee.

If Mayenda and Hemir were scoring* in the U21s we’d likely be excited about their potential. Hanging them out to dry like last season was unfair on them and their “pathway”. Never mind us being in the same position a few days before the next season starts

Hopefully Rusyn is more settled now too; must have been difficult for him last year too

*obviously if they were scoring ;)

i wish we would mould him into one I still think that's where he has looked at his best for us

We could have bought Simms but preferred to spend the cash by taking punts on Hemir, Rusyn and Mayenda.
Complete amateurs. We start the season in less than 72 hours with, only 1 fit for purpose centre half who can play in two (although many on here say he's not), still no CDM, zero centre forwards, no fit for purpose assistant head coach and a head coach who was about 5th choice after many months of failing to get the preferred options over the line, folks even knocking us back for 2nd interviews knowing they couldn't bring in any staff. Omni-shambles.

Canny pink slice though.

The 3 strikers we have currently aren’t the problem and I will die on that hill.

The problem is the fact we are having to rely on them without a senior proven goal scorer (or 2) to play the lead role while they develop.

Nah I don’t either, it was all hypothetical.

Starts the season with Fulham I reckon.

Silva has already said he’s open to Stansfield leaving either on loan or permanently this summer. The story was in the London Evening Standard last week.

They way our club is ran there’s not a cat in hell’s chance we’re forking out the cash to buy him outright and I’d imagine there’ll be clubs higher up the food chain even in our league looking to take him on loan.
