Boro thread

Agree with this.
It keeps getting mentioned (on here at least) about how 'obsessed' we are with Sunderland, yet they're the ones that keep harping on about it - I'd say the obsession is with them, not us.
It's almost as if they're all trying to prove their 'not caring' to each other.
This 'big club' rubbish is exactly that - rubbish.
You can perceive yourself as 'big' as you want, but surely the only important thing is results on the pitch.
There's been seven seasons since Sunderland finished in a higher league position than Boro , 4 of those seasons in the third tier.

We're nowt special (but we know that), but neither are Sunderland .
It's years since either club has even managed a top half premier league finish.
love cherry picking stats
sunderland 6 league titles 2 fa cups
middlesbrough 1 league cup
and the we're not special neither are sunderland is your way of saying... sunderland are much bigger but you know it will sound ridiculous if you say boro are, so you will try and sly insult us by saying the club isnt special, but put forward neither is boro.

absolute nonsense, sunderland are much much bigger. i dont actually mind smoggies, mates with plenty of them... but i dont think anyone out of the 15 or so i know support boro.... actually one does.

Well I give a shit, because it's quite relevant to the point I was making.

Lots of people may have seen Sunderland win the FA cup, but Sunderland fans my age won't have seen them win a trophy.

I'm not bothered that we're not perceived to be a big club, I got to experience my club winning a trophy.
And more Sunderland fans have seen us win a bigger one so don't get your point.
Can always tell when the kids are off school. Now bore off

No need for any points scoring on our part, the whole country knows who the better club is. If you've not got it yet it's not the team in Yorkshire
I will give you better supported, in terms of absolute number of fans. However, and I know it's subjective but I think our squad shades it at the minute, so I would say we are the better team just now

Better team does not equal bigger club.

Newcastle have a better team then man utd. They aren't a bigger club.

If all things were equal with player squads and league division and wages a player would always choose Sunderland over Boro.

Temporarily offering more wages and bigger transfer fees doesn't make you a big club. Winning trophies do and Boro have never won the league have a smaller stadium fan base and a worse academy

Great, yet here we are, just 2 clubs trying to get out of the championship or survive in the premier league. Been pretty much the same story for 60 years.

I realise it's an inconvenient truth.

We won the cup in 73. Reached milk cup final in the 80s and the fa cup final again in 92. What were Boro doing in that time span?

Being more successful in small pockets doesn't make you bigger. 🤣

And - if you selected the best eleven from both sides, I doubt if they would amount to a promotion side.
The reality is Sunderland are a bigger club than Boro, however Leeds United are a bigger club than Sunderland too.

Both are facts.
There is not a single fact in your sentence apart from the actual word.
